McMaster and James
Back in 1997, at a local Winnipeg studio, solo artists Luke McMaster and
Rob James met for the first time. Shortly after they decided to become
a group, finding that they both have a love for classic motown music and
they both were struggling as solo artists. They began to sing together,
covering all sorts of songs from artists like Stevie Wonder and the Jackson
5, calling themselves 2Face, but later changing their name to Mcmaster
and James. Both are extremely good at writing songs, so they used that
too. They began putting on performances at local schools and clubs. Eventually
they were discovered and they began recording their debut album, McMaster
and James. With 9 out 0f 10 songs on the album their own, they were
busy writing and recording. Their album was released early 2000, with successful
sales, almost reaching Gold status.
With growing success, they were invited to be the opening act for 'Nsync's
first Canadian tour. Later they opened for Prozzak along with Soul
Decision. Their latest tour was with Christina Aguilera, at this year's
Psykoblast tour, all around Canada, which also featured The Moffats, Soul
Decision and MyTown. They recently released their song 'I Understand' an
amazing song with powerful lyrics and vocals. They also had their first
release, 'Love Wins Everytime' on a mix album (Planet Pop 2000) featuring
Britney Spears, Backstreet Boys, and lots of other huge music stars. Their
second release was also a hit, 'Thank You' played numerous times on probably
every canadian radio station.
Their success is still growing , with a hit album and three hit songs behind
them, McMaster and James are ready to take on the Pop empire. What are
they doing now? they are busy touring, they'll be going to Africa in August,
and they've told their fans that they've written about 40 new songs already,
and according to Rob, their next album should only take 3 weeks to
record, a lot faster than the first one , which was recorded over
a year. They have stated that they won't be releasing another album probably
until next year. They describe their music as 'Soul-Pop'. If you don't
have their amazing debut cd, I advise you to get it A.S.A.P! You won't
regret it! It's even an interactive cd, you can fiddle around with
the different instruments on 'Love Wins Every time' to create your own
mix, and there's even huge printout poster/calendars of Luke and
Rob! Go get it!
So to sum everything up, these two seem like they're enjoying themselves,
and as long as they keep making great music, all the fans will be happy!
