Your Nominee - Charles Ross Eagar
Autobiography
I was born on December 8, 1951 in Welkom, Oranje Free State Province, South
Africa and spent my childhood years in Vereeniging, Gauteng province. [The
city where Nelson Mandela took part in Sharpville Riots of 1961.]
I graduated from High School in 1969 and was on
School Prefect Council [higher education and leadership group] and Victor Ludorm in Field and Track during my last two years there.
Compulsory military service started in January 1970
at Airforce Gymnasium, Valhalla [outside Pretoria] and, when training was
complete, I served in a Commando unit until 1992. My military experience will
enable me to assist in the establishment of military and homeland defence
priorities. I understand the essential elements of military information
and strategy. This will help our party to uinderstand counter arguments in
parliament when it comes to military matters
I joined my father's construction company to
construct buildings.
During this time I visited Europe, where I backpacked around for two and
a half years . I met my wife Heather Jo [Lord] in Paris in 1975 and we married
in 1977. We have three children, Matthew, Vanessa and Melissa, whilst
employed by The SA.Old Mutual Investment and Insurance Company, which I joined
in 1976.
In 1979 I became District Manager for four towns
along the Zimbawe border. I successfully completed LIMRA industry courses
as well as Estate and Business planning courses needed to qualify for promotion.
In 1983 I decided to become a partner in my dad's
construction firm [it grew from 8 to 43 workers]. I was also co - owner of
a little tailoring company and owner of a taxi service.
In 1992 I emigrated to Canada and joined
Metroplolitan Life as a Field Rep. In 1993 I became Manager to the branch in
Fredericton , stayed in this position , until 1999 when I decided to go back to
personal production .
Again I did all the relevant Field Management Courses [AMTC and MTC and
Security Courses] needed for financial managers .
My entrepreneurial and financial professional sales
experience over the years working in these various fields, and the insight that
I have gained from this, will be very helpful to bring forward practical
solutions within the party caucus when there is a need for deliberation on
matters of our economy. This will also empower me to help our party navigate its
way through the needs of numerous competing constituencies and government and
public sectors.
Racism issues swirled around me during my formative years in South Africa and I
am well-able to see the harm that results from these very destructive matters..
This enables me to see clearly the danger I feel engulfing our beautiful and
god-given country , as well as seeing what will happen if I do not stand up for
a value system of integrity , honesty and a fair government . My life so far has
equipped me well to have the dedication and desire to do what needs to be done .
I am willing to face those controversial matters which are in a state of
evolution, and I believe we need strong leadership to make the call and move on,
contrary to the Liberal party who seem to be caught in a unwillingness to
think smart, act tough and have a desire to be involved and responsible.
