December 22 - HAPPY BIRTHDAY J!!!!
December 14 - j. sent this info out to the mailing list today:
Hey kids,
Just a quick note to let you all know what's goin' on in "j land" these
days.
I've almost completed work on Deception's record which will drop in March of
'02, on my own imprint "l'e.t." records (l'enfant terrible) We've shot a
video for his lead single "see ya 'round tomorrow" which should hit Much in
late January.
As some of you may have heard, I've parted ways with Warner Music Canada.
Don't worry, this was by my choice - my manager and I fought long and hard
to get me off the label, and we landed on our feet with some extra spending
cash in our pockets.
I don't want to speak ill of any one at Warner, most of the people there
worked very hard on my record and advancing my career and I'm greatfull for
their time, energy and comitment to helping me out. I learned a great deal
during my tenure there. Unfortunately, in the big picture, I wasn't happy
there and felt I need to make a break if I was going to continue to grow as
an artist. I will be back with a new record to inflict :) upon the public
by the summer - I promise. And there will be the occasional live date
between now and then.
Right now I'm in L.A., just hangin' out, visiting my sister (Esthero) and
having a bit of a break from the rat race. Actually, I'm spending a lot of
time by the pool sipping Coronas...:) (hic!)
Which brings me to Friday Dec 28th....
The second annual holiday "disconected" show will be at Holy Joe's (upstairs
room of the Reverb/Big Bop at the corner of Bathurst & Queen) Opening will
be my good friend "Mad Bastard" Kevin Quain - who I highly recomend you come
to see, or if you can drop in to check him out every Sunday night at the
Cameron Public House. I also have some special guest appearances up my
sleave for the night, so ya don't wana miss this one.
Admission is $15 at the door, or $10 if you bring a non perishable food item for donation to the Daily Bread Food Bank.
October 18 - j. informed me that he has left his contract with Warner, and he is indie again! Look for some new songs in the spring, and a show (if not sooner) at Holy Joes around the holiday season...
