The Band
Our Lady Peace formed in 1992, when guitarist Mike Turner placed an ad to a local Toronto magazine, lookingo for other musicians to join the band. Raine Maida, who would become the lead singer, answered the ad, along with the bassist Chris Eacrett, and drummer Jim Newell; Our Lady Peace was born. They recorded and filmed the video for their first demo "Out Of Here", wich was sent to a music conference held in Toronto. After that they made a three-song demo and signed a recording contract with Sony Music Canada. The name Our Lady Peace was taken from a poem written by Mark Van Doren. The band's first album, Naveed, was realesed in 1994, and sold over half a million copies. In 1997, and already with the new members, Jeremy Taggart as drummer and Duncan Coutts as bassist, the band released their second album, Clumsy, wich made their way into the canadian and american rock charts. After many tours, the band recorded their third album, Happiness... Is Not A Fish That You Can Catch, wich features the jazz drummer Elvin Jones. The album is doing very well at the canadian, american and european charts. Their newest album, Spiritual Machines, will be released on December 12, 2000.
