On January 26, 2000, i had my first opportunity to meet OLP. This is my story:
i didn't have any of my cd covers, or magazines to get signed, because we had
to check our bags, and the bitches from much told us that we wouldn't get to meet
OLP, so we shouldn't bother bringing our stuff in. so i left my covers and my
markers in my bag...i wore my happiness promo tag that i got from a guy at music world though, and at first i felt like a dork for wearing it, but now i'm really glad i did, because i got it signed :) during the first or second commercial brake, the first person i met was Duncan.
i pushed my way to the front row, cause i was DAMMED determined to get in there. Duncan came over, and he signed my happiness tag that was around my neck,and i told him that i love his hat :) and he said Thanx so much! and then he had to go back to his spot, cause
commercials were almost over. next person i met was Jeremy...and i have wanted to meet Jer forever, cause he is THE reason i started playing drums. so i waited till he came over to me, and i said to him "Jeremy, i just wanted to say that you are my idol, and you are the
reason i started playing drums. and the first song i ever learned to play was
Naveed" and he smiled and he said "WOW! thank you so much!" and he seemed really
genuine...it was so nice :) (and he signed my happiness tag...)
then rick came over for a bit and talked to me and told me he would be coming by
me in a bit, and to be careful...so commercials were over, and he did his
little thing, and he like, totally leaned on me (and i'd been having really bad
back aches, and he pressed down on my shoulders, and it kinda hurt, but i
barely felt pain, cause i was so excited!)
so then, it was the end of the show, and mike was doing autographs on top of the
stage, and i kinda got pushed further back on a diagonal from the much music
people, cause they had to make room for OLP again... so i just got mike to sign
my tag, and couldn't really talk to them,cause there were SO many people shoving
stuff at him. so then, Raine came over to the side, cause he was getting off the
stage, so i said "hi raine!" and he said "hi! thanx for coming!" and he
signed my thingy...then jamie came by, and he didn't have a
marker, and i didn't either, so i shook his hand and said "you were great!" and
he said "thanx! and thanx for coming!" so then they headed further down the
line, and jeremy and mike were right in front of me. so i asked jeremy if i
could take a picture of him, and he said
"YEAH! sure!" so i get all set up to take the picture, and i snapped and nothing
happened, so he's like "WAIT! it's not open!" so he opened my lens cap for me,
and i snapped the pic. just as the flash went off, Mike turned around, and he
looks at me and goes "OW! i'm blind! i
picked the wrong time to turn around!" so i said "sorry!" and we were both
laughing, and then i took a pic of mike:)
then they were off, and i was giddy! ;) we ended up being one of the first
groups out of there, cause we were close to the door, so we headed over to Second Cup for the Clumsy Congress meetup (and for a cup of tea,cause i lost my voice)...we were there for about 10 minutes before everyone else started getting there.
