The concert at the Horseshoe was SOOOOO amazing!!! it was probably one of the best mudmen concerts i've seen so far.
my sister decided to go out for dinner with her fiancee before the show (while i was listening to the mudmen on the edge) and they came back at like, 9:45, and we didn't end up leaving the house until way after 10...maybe even 10:30, by the time we got out...so, i was kinda pissed about that, because i wanted to get there earlier.
so, then we were lost driving around the city (who knew that you couldn't make a left turn onto spadina from the lakeshore!? obviously not me LOL) so we got lost, and drove around in circles a few times...then we got to where we were going, and there was a huge lineup. then there was no parking, so we had to go find another lot. by the time we actually got into the lineup, it had grown a considerable amount. i really didn't think we were going to get in. i saw tommy, and i was going to ask him to get us in, but then he grabbed another girl, and he walked away before i got a chance to talk to him. same thing happened with sandy. so i was really paranoid. i called lonny on his cell phone to tell him my predicament, but he didn't have his phone on. i was so worried that i wasn't going to get in. after about 20 minutes of waiting outside (they were letting people in 3 people at a time) we finally got close to the front. as we were up at the front, brent walked by (yay!) so i told him i had to talk to him (turbo wants to do an interview with a manager, so i was supposed to run it by him) so then he goes to the bouncer "how long until she gets in?" and the bouncer asked me "how many people are with you?" and i said "just us two" (pointing to my sister) and he looks around, and he goes "okay, you can go in" so i was like "YES! thank you brent!!" (i didn't even get carded! yay!) so brent had work to do before the set, so he told me to find him after they were done. so then, i was paying the cover for me and my sister, and j. came over to me! (yay, seeing him 2 times in one week!) so i gave him a hug, and told him i would see him later, and me and my sis went inside.
the band before the mudmen were playing their last song as we were walking in, so i squeezed my way through the crowd, and made my way to the front. as the band left the stage, i made my way to a front row position, right between zoy's and lonny's mics. Ryan came out to check his drums, and smiled 'n said hi when he saw me..then lonny came out and he's like "hey you!" (i didn't bug either of them though, cause they had work to do)
then, soon enough, the boys took the stage, beginning with Mason's Apron (as usual!) as they were finishing the song, zoy appeared in the stage door area, and he BLEACHED HIS HAIR! he caught my eye, and i looked at him, and my mouth dropped! LOL, and then, he made the same facial expression as me, as if he was mocking me, and then he smiled at me (LOL, it's hard to describe in writing...you had to be there!)
so then, he came out on stage, and they played In My Head (again, as usual! LOL) At some point, either during In My Head, or Winners, which was the next song that they played, Lonny leaned over in the middle of the song, and gave me a huge slurpy kiss on the cheek...LOL, he made my face wet :P Throughout the whole show, Lonny would stand right in front of me, and he'd play his guitar, but he came SO close to hitting me, every time he'd do that, so i'd flinch, and he'd laugh LOL, and then he almost stepped on my fingers a few times LOL. it was so funny. zoy kept almost stepping on my fingers too LOL, and at one point, he stepped on his mic stand, and made it fly towards me, and i thought he was gonna knock me in the head with it, so i reached up really quickly, and he stepped on it to pull it back, and laughed at me LOL. and ryan kept making faces at me through the whole concert LOL. so did j, who was standing in the wings, by the side door. LOL, my sister pulled me aside and she's like "uhh, so i guess everyone knows you, eh?" and i'm like "uhh..yeah, you could say that" LOL
Their whole set was really energetic, and the crowd was hopping. (trust me. the people behind me kept hitting me in the back the whole time!) After winners, they played 5 O'Clock, which really got the crowd jumping. Then, they played MY favourite song...Wasting Time :) Then, at some point in the next few songs, Tommy was having some kind of trouble with his bass, so first lonny and zoy started doing a striptease thing LOL. then rob and sandy did this impromptu bagpipe jam thingy, or, at least, i'll assume it was impromptu, and not planned. but you never know with the mudmen! :P
They have a song called "Clumsy" on the set list ...i'm not sure if that was the bagpipe thing, or what, but after that, they played Lost! (my other favourite song...that they NEVER play!) i think it was at this point when Zoy looks down at me and mouths the words "I LOVE YOU!" and i did the same back at him LOL it was cute :)
so then, they played Livin A Lie, and then Home For A Rest...they didn't sing the first verse when they played it though! LOL, the first verse is my favourite, and they didn't sing it :S (you know...the one that goes "we arrived in december when london was cold...") they started at the first chorus, and then continued the song from there. After that, they played Saturday, and just about everyone in the crowd was singing. it was SO cool, seeing the change from the first time i saw them in concert, to now...first, no one knew any of the words (except me, of course!) and now, almost everyone knew the words! yay for the mudmen. i'm so glad they're getting airplay, and getting recognized, because they're so talented.
After Saturday, they played Underdog, their next single. Zoy whipped me with the cord of the mic :P i scowled at him LOL. Then, finally, they played the song that the crowd was chanting for (and ALWAYS chants for, every time i see them!)...Drink and Fight. the crowd got really mosh-y, during this song...i kept getting hit in the head LOL. zoy changed the words at one point to "and if you hurt these girls i'm going to kick your fucking ass... (we're gonna drink 'n fight...)" LOL, it was so hilarious.
after drink and fight, they left the stage, but they came back for an encore. i'm not sure what the name of the song was that they played, but it was a cover... anyway. the show really kicked ass. :) after they were done, i stole zoy's set list (the bottom part was all ripped though, because he was stepping all over it) LOL
i didn't really get a chance to talk to them after the show, cause i had to find brent, to talk about turbo's interview, and all the guys seemed kinda busy. i said hi to tommy, because he was standing in front of me, but that's about it. i wanted to talk to the rest of them, but it was late, and my sister wanted to go home :(
ahhh well. next time :)
