(this is taken from my LiveJournal so parts of it might not make sense)
ahh! last night was *SO* awesome! i called lonny yesterday around 3, to see if it was still cool that i did an interview with them, and he told me to go down to lee's palace around 5. so i got there around 10 after 5 (after being lost, wandering the streets around the subway station LOL) and i got there just as rob, sandy, brent and andrew were unloading the van. so i kinda stood around being useless, then ryan came, and he told me to come in with him. then i kinda stood around for a bit, and talked to some of the guys. tommy came in a little later, and i talked to him for a bit. people kept coming up to me and asking me why i was there, but i just told them that i was doing an interview, so it was all cool :) a little while later, zoy came in, and then lonny. so i talked to them for a bit. when lonny came in, i was standing across the room, so he called me to go over, and i could *barely* hear what he was saying, so i lent in to listen to him, and he like, kissed my ear or somethin' LOL, it was cute! econoline crush were soundchecking at the time, so it was cool that i got to watch the soundcheck :) they played, i think, surefire and you don't know what it's like (?) but i could be wrong.
then the mudmen soundchecked. i took a few pictures while they did, but i felt kinda awkward, so i didn't take too many. the mudmen played...umm. wasting time, a song that i don't know the name of...and...another one that i can't remember right now LOL.
so then, after they finished soundchecking, i did an interview with zoy, cause lonny's cousin was in from the states, so he wanted to go out with him before the show. i felt kinda bad about keeping zoy behind though...so i did a quick little interview thingy, and hopefully i can get a good 45 second clip out of it, so i can play it back on my radio exam on wednesday. so then, after that, we were having a conversation with the guy from the club about places to eat, and he kept on talking about this place called "juice for life" and i had *absolutely* no idea what he was talking about LOL. i gotta start eating at other places besides mcdonalds LOL :S
so anyway, then they were going out for dinner, so sandy asked me if i wanted to go along...so i did :) we went to this bar/pub thing, called Poppers. at first, rob, sandy and i were squished into one side, and zoy, and the guy from the club (i never got his name...) were on the other side, but then zoy and the other guy moved down, so they could watch the hockey game. ryan, and a friend of his were sitting at the table behind me and rob. so, we were talking about, well...all kinds of things. it was weird, cause i think that's the longest time i've ever spent with rob and sandy, and they are like, the nicest guys in the world!! ryan freaked me out at one point, cause his head just like, appeared between me and rob LOL. then he came over and talked to us for a bit, cause his friend went out. then, at one point, i saw a poster that said something like "wednesday night, live entertainment by mike barnes" and it freaked me out, cause mike barnes was my drum teacher (before we moved...i haven't taken lessons since then) so i gotta email him and ask about that... then, at around 9-ish, we started to leave, then there were some guys near the door, who recognized rob and sandy, so we kinda stood around talking to them for a bit. they were really nice guys. i can only remember one guy's - steve - name though...then at like, 9:30, i guess, we went back to the club.
k, so i went into lee's, and, one of the dudes from lee's told the person at the door that i was interviewing the band earlier, but i had already bought a ticket for the show, so it didn't really matter. at first, i kinda stood in the lower section, but i wasn't in the front, and there were lots of people, so then i decided to move up a bit, so i would get better pictures. the girl i was standing next to was really nice. i think she said her name was Raina (it was hard to hear), and she was friends with tommy, so we talked a bit about the mudmen. Steve (from Poppers) came over and talked to me for a bit too. then, finally, at about 10:45, the mudmen took the stage.
they opened with a rousing version of Mason's Apron. then zoy came out, and they played in my head. the crowd was totally into the show, and it was *packed* they had a really good turn out. next they played a song that i don't know. i'm pretty sure i've seen them play it before, but i really don't know what it is LOL. after that, everyone started yelling for them to play drink and fight, but they played 5 o'clock instead. the crowd reaction was really good for this song especially. then there were some more shouts for drink and fight, but they played Wasting Time. Coma was next. More shouts for drink and fight, and Zoy's like "maybe later, if you're good" Then they played Home for a Rest, it was *SOOO* good. i LOVE when they play this song!!! it was *so* energetic. then Zoy made a little speech about "two awesome bands being here tonight" and they went into Saturday. then they *finally* gave the audience what they wanted...drink and fight! it was awesome. their half hour set was totally full of energy, and the crowd was really into it. it was amazing!!
after that, i kinda stood in my spot until econoline crush went on. steve and his friends came up to where we were standing, and then one of them (i think his name was matt) went over to the backstage door, and got in (somehow LOL) i watched their first two songs from where i was (got some *really* good pictures of the band too, trevor looked directly at me for two or three of them, cause he noticed that i was taking a picture) they began with Sparkle and Shine, and then they played Surefire. After that, i left my spot, because i told my mom i'd call her at 12. So i went to the back, where the merch was set up, and i called home, then i bought a mudmen t-shirt (yay!) and i kinda stood back there for the rest of the show, and i talked to all the guys from the mudmen (except for lonny, who had already left, i think) Ryan gave me his drumstick (it was promised to me, after the snowjam show! LOL) So i stood around there, talking to...well. various people LOL. i don't even know half the people i was talking to. Sarah came over and talked to me for a bit...she told me that she had talked to Edwin, Ruben and Kenny during the mudmen's set (cool stuff! they actually showed up!). i left at about 10 to 12. i gave tommy a kiss on the cheek (that was awkward!) LOL, then i saw sandy on the way out, and gave him a big hug.
...and then it was over. i had such a good time. it was feckin' awesome!
