Sept. 21, 1999
k, for everyone who doesn't know...i won tickets to see OLP in concert on Sept. 21 at the sky dome. this was my 3rd time seeing OLP in concert. I won through the Pied Pipers Union, OLP's fan club. The event also doubled as the "blue line cell phone" thingy, so there were lots of people there who were extremely drunk, because they got free beer...this should explain the rest of the story:
OLP WAS SSSSSSSOOOOOOO AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!
we got there at about 7, and we got to go through the special "back stage" no-lineup gates (and we got to wait inside, while everyone was freezing their asses outside!) Stacy from the CC was checking PPU passes, so i talked to her for a bit, then a bunch of people from the CC recognized me all at once-Jenn, Annie, Zith and Mike. I was talking to Mike (not turner...i wish!) for about 10 min., before we went up to the green room, and he asked me to put his camera in my purse, cause he had no where to put it. Then, between 7:30 and 8, we went up to the green room, where we had drinks and chips & chilled for a bit. (i was hoping OLP would come, but alas, they did not :( ) I met Julia and Tiziana, (my friend Elise's friend) Claudia's sisters. They were cool. They came to the table where Jenn, her brother, my sister and I were sitting, and introduced themselves, and i said "oh my god! are you claudia's sister?!" and they're like "YEAH! are you her friend from school?" and i'm like "yeah!" they were really nice :) Then, at about 8:30 we were allowed to go down to the floors. We didn't know where to go at first (so that explains our lack of good spots...they were alright, but we probably could've been at the front, if we knew where to go)
Then, at about 10 after 9, I saw the OLP boys walking around, ready to go on stage & the beginning of One Man Army started. it was SO awesome! We were standing at the side of the stage, with a perfect view of Jeremy, and sometimes Raine and Duncan. We could barely see Mike, and I couldn't see Jamie at all, cause they had this stupid curtain in the way >:/ The next song they played was Automatic Flowers (and i had these teeny boppers yelling in my ear "oh my god! Raine's so HOT!" and they were singing (loudly) in a very un-pitched (is that a word?) voice...it was annoying as hell...so i elbowed them. Then they played Supersattellite (AWESOME!) and Potato Girl (even MORE awesome!). I don't remember the exact set list, but someone will probably have it posted somewhere on the net later, so i'll try to get it up on the page. I had this idiot beside me who was totally drunk, and he kept on "dancing" and banging into me. I hit him, and then he stayed away from me >;) then, during Starseed, Raine came over to our side, and stepped on top of the speaker, and was bending down right over us. He was looking at me, cause he noticed my t-shirt (i was the only one in the whole building who was wearing that t-shirt, because Julia and Tiziana weren't wearing theirs, and the only other one went to this girl, Katie, who wasn't there)-ok, so he probably wasn't ACTUALLY looking at me, but hey...it was my moment, let me indulge! That was the closest i've ever been to any member of OLP...if i were to lie down, i could touch him! he was like 5 feet away from me!!!! AAAAAAAHHHHH!!!!! i can't wait to get these pictures developed!! Then, through out the whole concert, i had the song Waited in my head & i was waiting (no pun intended ;) for them to play it, but they finished their set, without playing it :( Then they came back out for the encore and they played Superman's Dead (teeny's yelling in my ears AGAIN) then, after they finished, Raine says "this is going to be our last song...it's a new one, called Waited" all you hear is me screaming (extremely loud) "YYYEEEESSSSS!!!!!!!!" everyone around me was laughing, and i think the band may have heard, because it was REALLY quiet at that point, before anyone started cheering...it was very funny ;) then they left :( i knew all the words to almost all of the new songs...it was pretty cool...everyone thought i was a freak...i was like "umm, hello! the cd came out TODAY! why doesn't anyone have it yet?!"
Then after the concert, me and my sis were standing there, and Annie came over to us again, and then Miro and Kruno came over to us, then Sara (princess of darknesss on CC) and Heather (heater) came over to us, and we took a few pics (one of them is already up on the CC) and we pretty much chilled out for a bit...about half an hour inside, until they kicked us out, and then we were chilling outside (literally chilling...it was FREEZING last night!!) we waited about an hour, because the parking lot was impossible to get out of. Heather and Sara left a little earlier, so Miro, Kruno, Annie, my sister and I were left alone...at one point, we walked down the street, and we stood over one of those subway vents on the side walk, because that was the only source of heat we had! ;)
then on the way home, me and my sis stopped at mcdonalds, cause i hadn't eaten anything since lunch yesterday, and we were both about to faint or something...we ended up getting home at about 12:30.
here's the new songs that they played: One Man Army, Potato Girl, Blister, Is Anybody Home?, Waited, Lying Awake, and Stealing Babies (i think those are the only ones that they played)
i really wanted them to play Happiness and the Fish, Thief, and Annie...i love those songs! oh well...
i still did not get to meet OLP :( i'll be even more pissed off if i find out that one of those drunken dudes who don't even like OLP end up meeting them...cause they don't deserve it! i do!!
ooh, and Heather ended up catching Jero's drumstick! i got to hold his drumstick!! i was tempted to steal it...but that wouldn't be nice...but i'm glad it went to her and not one of those drunken dudes (as you can tell, i didn't enjoy the drunken dudes too much...)
i'm listening to the cd (AGAIN) it's the 10th time i heard it since i bought it :) i memorized almost all of it ;) i definetly suggest that you run out and buy it RIGHT NOW!!
i can't wait for OLP to come back in concert in the winter!!!!
