I went up to Barrie with my sister, Daniela, and my friends Elise and Cris. We got up to Molson Park pretty quickly...it only took us 40 minutes (record timing!) but then, the exit to Molson Park drive was closed, because of an accident, which totally screwed up our plans. we had to get off at the next exit, and then get back on the 400 south again, so it took us an hour and a half to get into Molson Park after we got up to Barrie. But as soon as we got in there, we didn't let that dampen our spirits. As I walked past the security guards, I noticed my best friend, Amber (actually, i noticed her hair), so we walked into the park together. We had about a half hour before we were supposed to meet up with the Clumsy Congress members, so we went over to the edge's tent (to look for spanky!).
So, we went up to the edge's tent, and I was talking to Lana, and I asked her where Spanky was, and she said he got stuck at the Edge studios (which really sucked, cause i wanted to talk to him!) Then she asked me if I was 19, and I said no, and she's like "awww" (cause she had Humble and Fred fest tix) and then she gave a pair to my sister...but she felt bad for me, so she gave me a pair, but she told me that they're checking i.d. at the door. Then Elise and Cris decided to walk around, and they said they'd meet us back later.
so then we saw Stacy walking around, and we decided to go to the merchandise tent for the CC meetup. So we met up with a whole bunch of people...some of the ones that i remember off the top of my head are Jenn (RMJDgirl), Katie (katie), Raven (munky), Katie (olpsunflower), Lindsey (Lindz) and there were a bunch of others there too. (and almost everyone told me that they saw George Stroumboulopoulos at some point while they were there! but i didn't :*( ) Then we found Elise and Cris again, but they wanted to go back into the village, to buy stuff, and me and Dan wanted to get something for lunch, so we separated and we decided to meet at 2, before the first band went on.
We ended up finding each other after 2, and we came to the conclusion that if we got separated again, we would just meet at the baseball diamond after OLP's set. So then, me and my sister went over to the village stage, and we checked out the first band, Hundred Milehouse (who ended up going on late). They were pretty good, I'd never heard them before, but i thought they were cool.
the next slot was the first "TBA" slot, and i heard rumours that it was supposed to be a very cool band. So we waited around for a bit, to see who came on next, but we REALLY wanted to see treble charger. then we saw them bring on the drums and the banner of "The Apex Theory" (who were slotted to be the next band after the TBA band) so we decided to go see treble charger on the main stage.
we got to the main stage right at the beginning of Friend Of Mine. We found a spot at the side of the stage. it was a front row spot, but it wasn't very close to the stage. We could still see, but I only took like, 2 pictures, because I wasn't close enough. I couldn't see Trevor from my position, but Greig, Rosie and Bill were all wearing matching army clothes *L* they looked so cute! They played all the songs that you'd expect them to play - Red, Morale, American Psycho, etc...they only played 2 other songs from the new album - Business and More's The Pity. And, Greig also thanked all of us for making tc's new album go gold! They didn't have a very long set, but it was really good anyways.
After treble charger finished, we made our way over to the village stage. We caught the last part of The Apex Theory's set. They sounded pretty cool. They added a cover of "we're not gonna take it" to one of their songs, and i thought that was really cool. The lead singer looked really cool too; he had silver hair, and he was wearing this long, yellow silky outfit. it was very cool. The way they ended their performance was hilarious because the singer just stated all their contact information 'n stuff, really fast...he was like "thankyou we'reTheapextheory fromlosangelescalifornia, www.theapextheory.com" you could barely understand what he said, cause he was talking so fast (i think he was getting booted off the stage!)
While I was at that stage, I saw my friend Diane, so we decided to chill together for a bit. Then the 3 of us decided to go back to the main stage to see Eve 6. We didn't bother going down into the pit for Eve 6, because we wanted to see a bit of Sum 41 on the village stage. Eve 6 was AWESOME! i was *SO* happy when they played Leaving On A Jet Plane, because that was the exact moment that i fell in love with them at SS98, and when they played it, it made me so happy! half way through the set, i ran into my friend Steph, and she told me that F11's set was changed to 4:40, and she also told me that she was talking to Duncan the day before (he came into where she works) and he said to her "make sure you stick around at the end of Finger 11's set, because something VERY cool is going to happen" (hinting that it would have something to do with OLP) so of course, i was going to stay until the end of Finger 11's set! Then, Steph left so i got to watch the end of Eve 6. We left after Superhero Girl (i'm not sure if that was the end of their set or not) because we wanted to see Sum 41.
We made it back to the Village Stage just in time to see Sum 41 play "It Makes No Difference" it was really good! and i'm sure the rest of their set was really good, but i chose to see Eve 6 instead of them, because i had just seen them at the Warped Tour. They announced at the end of their set that Finger 11 would be coming up next.
We got spots RIGHT up front for Finger 11. They were AMAZING. Scott has an amazing talent for singing live. He has such a great voice. I think my favourite song that they played was "Above" it was *SO* good! At one point, someone was hurt in the pit, so they stopped the show, until that person got up, and was taken care of. i thought that it was really cool of them to do that. During the little break in their set, i looked at the backstage area, and i saw Jeremy Taggart, Raine Maida, Chantal Kreviazuk, and later on, i saw Mike Turner too. i was more excited about seeing them than F11 at that point, and i was just staring backstage! Then F11 was over, and i was standing with Kruno, and i pointed out the members of OLP backstage, so he yelled out "MIKE!!!!" and mike turned around, and we waved at him and showed him our "CC's" and he smiled/laughed, and waved back at us.
Then, we went over to where the bus was parked, to try and meet olp. We saw Raine and Jeremy doing an interview with Rick (the temp) from Much Music, which was pretty cool. A few people kept yelling "RAINE!" and he would turn around and smile at us. Then Raine took off, and Rick was still interviewing Jeremy, and then all these people in kiss makeup walked right by, and rick and jeremy laughed. then jeremy took off too, so we decided to go to the front of the stage, where the Kiss tribute band was playing. Upon closer inspection, i quickly realized who the Kiss Tribute Band was made up of -- Rich Beddoe from Finger 11 on drums, Greig Nori from Treble Charger on guitar/vocals, Jamie Edwards (on guitar) and Duncan Coutts (on bass/vocals) from Our Lady Peace. it was SOOOO cool!!! I noticed Mike taking pictures of Duncan from the side of the stage, and they were both laughing. Duncan did the kiss/gene simmons tongue-pose thingy...it was SOOO cool! They didn't play too long...they played for about 20 minutes.
After they finished, i met Katie (katie from the cc) at the side, of the stage, and she was waiting to meet OLP too, so we waited at the right side of the stage for a bit, and then we decided to go back where the busses were. There weren't a lot of people waiting around there, so Rich from Finger 11 came out from the bus, and i got to talk to him for a while. He was SO nice to me! he signed my cd cover, and he took a picture with me. Kruno asked him when they would be coming back, and Rich said that they were hoping to do a club tour either before Christmas, or in the new year. He was also talking to me about the Kiss tribute and he goes "yeah, we thought it would be funny...but it turns out that we all just looked really stupid!" and i was laughing and i'm like "no way! that rocked!" Then, Scott came out, and he was super-nice too! he signed my cd cover, and took a picture with me. then i was asking him what happened to his glasses and he told me that he got lazer eye surgery, and we were talking about the benefits of us for all us people who are stuck with glasses. he said that it's totally changed his life for the better, etc (and i told him that he sounded like an infomercial *L*) Then, Rich came back, and we asked him if Duncan or Jamie were still on the bus, and he goes "NO! they came on our bus to put on their make up and they LEFT! they USED us!" and he was laughing. so then we said thanks, and we decided to leave, since there was no point in us sticking around anymore.
Then we decided to get some dinner, so while we were walking over, and getting our food tickets and stuff, we were rockin' out to the sounds of A Perfect Circle. even though we couldn't see the stage at all, they sounded good. i only heard the last 2 songs or so, one of which was "Judith" which was SOOO cool! i LOVE that song.
The food line was pretty long, so we ended up JUST getting out of there, as the Foo Fighters were going on. At that point, i decided to buy my OLP tank top, since there was no line up, and i knew that there would definetly be one later, so i bought it, and shoved it in my bag. Then me, Dan, Miro and Kruno decided to try and find a spot up front for the Foo Fighters, because the closer we could get for their set, meant that we could get even CLOSER for olp. We didn't end up in the middle of the mosh pit for the Foo Fighters, we were kinda off to the side, but we still had a pretty good spot. Foo Fighters sounded really good! i didn't really like the way they played "Big Me" though. it was kinda slow (even slower than it normally is). "Stacked Actors" was probably one of my favourite songs that they played. it was totally full of energy and it was really cool. Dave said that we (at Molson Park) were the biggest crowd on the tour, and then he played "My Hero" after that.
After the Foo Fighters finished, we KNEW that we had to get into the pit as the others were leaving, so we followed the path that was set by the people exiting the pit, and we ended up with a GREAT spot for OLP! While we waiting there, we found Amber, Savine, Jason, Elise and SO many other people, so our little CC group just got a lot bigger!
then, we heard the familiar sounds of One Man Army filling the air. The pit got CRAZY right from the start! I think Mike noticed all of us CCers all together, and he got a huge smile on his face! Then, everyone kind of got separated, because there was so much pushing and surfing going on, it was insane! The Birdman was the next song that they played, complete with Raine's "birdman" dance! it was SOOO cool! i was basically alone for most of the middle part of olp's set, except for when i would occasionally run into a ccer, after being pushed around. I got kicked in the head a few times, and someone landed on my head at one point, and snapped my neck back (which hurt *A LOT* but there was NO WAY that i was going to leave the olp pit) When i was totally away from anyone i knew, i looked up, and i had a clear view of mike, and he was looking down at me, so i showed him my "CC" on my hand and he waved at me! One of my favourite parts was during Superman's Dead. Raine climbed on top of the speakers, which were RIGHT in front of me, and he said "are you guys ready to sing your Canadian asses off?!" and everyone cheered, and we sang "doesn't anybody ever know..." and he's like "no, no...that's not good enough. i said ARE YOU READY TO SING YOUR CANADIAN ASSES OFF?!?!" and we screamed and we sang that part again and he nodded and smiled, and then he started doing the next part. then at the end of the song, he thanked us for singing. Another part that was really awesome was when they played 4am. Raine let the crowd sing like, the WHOLE song...it was SO cool hearing everyone's voices in the crowd.
OLP played two new songs at the show too. "Big Green Monkey/Everyone's A Junkie" and "Life." They were both REALLY amazing!! i LOVED them soo much. it was cool, because at the beginning of Big Green Monkey, Raine said something like "we're going to play 2 new songs now, so if you have one of those recorders, hit record now, and put these songs up on napster." i thought it was SUPER cool of Raine to say that. it was also really cool, because in one of the new songs, there was a lyric about rain, and then it suddenly started raining, and Raine pointed to the sky. (the rain was VERY much appreciated, because it was SOOO hot in that mosh pit!)
The only thing that i *REALLY* hated about being in the pit for olp were all the stupid crowdsurfers. i DETEST crowdsurfers, especially A-during slow songs, and B-when 5 people in the same area decide that they ALL want to go up at the same time. *SO* many people either fell on me, or kicked me during olp's set, that it became very difficult to concentrate on the music, because i had to concentrate on keeping myself alive and concious!! that aspect of the show SUCKED. but other than that, i'd have to say that OLP was the best performance of the day :)
Elise and I (who found each other towards the middle/end of olp's set, and stuck together for the rest of it) then made our way out of the pit, to try and find my sister. it was very difficult for us, cause neither one of us could see clearly (i think we both had concussions) and it was very painful getting out of there, because we were both bruised and sore...but we eventually made it out, and met my sister. We couldn't find Crissy for the longest time, and we were so worried about her, but then she came up to us, and she's like "i've been waiting for 20 minutes for you guys!" and we laughed and said the same thing.
then we watched a bit of the Smashing Pumpkins, because Elise wanted to see them. but i thought they totally sucked. We left around the time that they played "Stand Inside Your Love"
after we left, we decided that we were all hungry, and dying to go to the bathroom, so we went to McDonalds on the highway. Me and Dan went to the washroom, while Elise and Crissy waited in line. Then when we got back into line with them, both Elise and Cris were like "KATIE! omg, you're never gonna believe who's here!! GEORGE!" and i'm like "oh, yeah right guys, whatever, i know that you guys are just fooling around cause i haven't seen him all day" and they're like "no! for real! he's right there! in line!" and then my sis goes "oh! i see him!" then i look around, and all of a sudden i hear "KATIE!!! hey!!!" and i spin around, and i see George. (and he goes to my sister "hey blondie!") so then i'm like "hey!" in my squeeky, almost non-existant voice (i lost my voice while i was in the olp pit) and he laughed, and he pointed at my shirt and he's like "so, you got to see your boys today, eh?!" and i'm like "yeah! they were awesome!!" and i told him about how i lost my voice, and he's like "i talked to you before when you lost your voice after a concert! you do that a lot!" and he laughed. so then we talked a bit about the show, he asked me if i saw APC, and i said that i only saw them play Judith, and he's like "well, that's all you needed to see! wasn't it awesome!?" Then he told me and my sis that he liked our hair colours. then he was ordering 'n stuff, and he was about to take off, and i was talking to elise, and then all of a sudden, he leans on my shoulder, and presses his face against my cheek, and he whispers in my ear "bye katie!" and i just about screamed! he made me jump half a mile into the air *L* (he did that to me when IME was at the edge, and he came up behind me too! i think he just likes scaring me!) then me and elise went to go grab a seat, and she decided to go wash her hands, and while she was in there, george was buying a bottle of water, and he goes to her "i love the sound of that!" (when the bottle of water hits the bottom of the machine) (that made me laugh...which hurt my ribs, cause they're bruised! *L*)
