Band Members :

Formed : Saskatoon, SK  in 1984
Broke up : 1993
reformed : 1999

Bio :
The Northern Pikes brought a 'country pop' sound to the Canadian music scene with their major label release Big Blue Sky. That album brought is such songs as 'Teenland' and 'Things I do for Money' , can-con staples for Canadian radio for quite a while. They continued their success with 1992's 'Snow in June', with such songs as 'She ain't Pretty', Kiss me You Fool' and 'Girl With a Problem'. That album cemented the groups reputation as excellent song smiths, catchy tunes and lyrics. Unfortunately they didn't stay together and in 1993 they broke-up, after recording the opening theme to "Due South", to pursue other things. The break-up was mostly amicable, as they reformed in 1999 after the release of their greatest hits album 'Hits and Assorted Secrets'. They toured Canada in 2000 and recorded 3 dates from that tour for a live album, North Bay, Ont, Wakefield, PQ and Toronto, Ont. During the break in the band several members went on to other projects. Jay Semko went on to release a solo album entitled 'Mouse' and scored music for several movies, documentaries and TV shows (most notably 'Due South'). Don Schmid was part of an indie band called the 'Non-Happenings'. Bryan Potvin released a solo album called 'Heartbreakthrough'. Recently the Pikes have released an new studio album called 'Tuest Inspiration' and have gone on tour to support it. Go here to find out how to request the song on your local radio staion.
