Sloan hit Canada about the same time as Grunge, releasing 'Smeared' with the quirky hit single "Underwhelmed" and a few other singles like "Take it In". They were Canada's Nirvana spreading their own brand of teenage angst, which was much more intelligent. This group of talented musicians next released the critically acclaimed 'Twice Removed', with the single "Coax Me" with all it's references (I had no idea who Consolidated was until much later), which made Chart Magazine's top 50 albums at #3. Sloan placed 4 albums in the top 50 of that survey ('Twice Removed' #3, 'One Cord to Another' #9, 'Smeared' #21, and 'Navy Blues' #33) and several songs in the top 50 songs category including "Underwhelmed" at #2. Sloan's past few years have been busy releasing 3 albums since 1998, including a live album. They are a very versatile band all members contribute songs and can play all the instruments.Other Stuff : The video for "The Lines you Amend" was shot at York University. The concept behind the video for "She Says What She Means" is based on a movie called 'The Privileged". And finally it's not that uncommon to see any of the members in the live music clubs in Toronto.
