The final event of the season will be a Pro - Am Mixed Team Tournament

Some of our good friends in the Pro ranks are going to join us in the fun as we get
together for the last time of our inaugural season.

ALL 8 BOWLERS from each bowling center’s team roster will be invited to this tourney
We will have 14 teams bowling instead of our regular 7 that we have each month.

The names of all youth bowlers will be drawn out of a hat to pick the mixed teams of
four on that day

Along with the youth bowlers, we will also pick a Pro bowler’s name out of the hat to
make each team a five person team.

COACHES- Please inform your entire roster about this event. We hope to get everyone
involved in the fun

ALL TEAMS - must have rosters for the Pro Am Tourney in Stow by JUNE 1st .
If you’d like, you can send the rosters in before the deadline by bringing them with you
to the Metro Bowl event or by emailing them to Bart Maderios ( maderios@aol.com )

The cost for this event will be $10.00 for 3 games of bowling and the prize fund

All regular season awards will be given out to the winners on that day as well.

Don't miss out on the fun!!

Do any parents or coaches remember the way Wal-Lex looked back in good ol’ 1961?
The picture below comes from an old magazine called Candlepin Bowler. The magazine was
short lived but carried a wealth of information about the game during a time of great popularity.

Boy, they sure don’t make cars like they used to anymore do they!  I wonder how many of us could
afford to join the Junior Travel League if we had to fill up one of those gas guzzlers on Sunday mornings?
         I know I couldn’t afford it!

As you can see, little has changed the last 40 years but unfortunately, as some
of you may already know, it looks like there will be some major change in store
for the Waltham landmark
We learned about the sad news the very next day after the March event. The
papers reported that the 60 lane center will close it’s doors for it’s final time in
the near future and the land will be used for new development.
There’s no doubt that there will be many great memories left behind at the Wal- Lex !

Laura Rotolo, a Waltham High School freshman, has been a real standout in
the eyes of many this season and not just for her talent but because of her
outgoing drive and the great spirit she displays.
“In HER opinion she doesn't stand out in a crowd.” said coach Bob Brown.
“But to ME, it would be easier to list the sports she doesn't play.”
According to the Wal-Lex youth coach, the best way to describe her is that
she packs ten pounds of attitude in a two pound can!
“She’s always the competitor and if you give her an edge it will cost you!” said
Brown “It was easy for Tom and I to recruit her on the travel team. In our
opinion she is the ultimate teammate.  She always has a smile on her face, and a
wisecrack to make. When the Wal-Lex hosted our stop for the travel league, Laura
was very vocal about people coming out to support the bowlers.”

The diminutive Ms. Rotolo began her bowling career at the age of six .This
will be the 1st year she will bowl "All Events" in the Junior State tournament.
The past 3 yrs. she has bowled in the Doubles competition with Lindsey Hines,
another member of the Wal-Lex  travel team
“You should listen to those two talk to each other! You would think they were
enemies! That's just their way to drive each other to be more competitive.” said Brown
Coach Brown also mentioned that they are lucky to have her in their program
and hope to have another program in a nearby center for her and all their other
great youth bowlers when the Wal -Lex Rec Ctr closes.

The Travel League members wish them all the best !
