It’s pretty safe to say that say 16 year old Cory Elliot, a 4 year bowling veteran, is all business at Ipswich Lanes. Not only does she bowl there but she works there as well. When she turned 13, the owner of Ipswich Lanes, Marc Barber, offered her a position there and according to her coach Geoff Lear, “Ever since then you can’t get her away!”
When she isn’t working you’ll still find her there bowling in many different house leagues including the Teen League, Travel League, Adult/Youth League, Summer Junior, Summer mixed Adult and Sunday Tournament. She has also participated in many Town and State run Tournaments such as Women’s town championships. Other credits include the Junior Bowling Classic in Portsmouth,
NH and the Junior MBA State Tournament. Through out all of these she continues to bowl close to a 100 average consistently.Coach Lear told us that Cory is one very dedicated bowler. “She has a great attitude and never gives up. Earlier this season she bowled a 69 in the Adult/Youth league. She was of coarse disappointed but she was able to joke about it and not let it get her down. She has this incredible ability to always bring a smile to your face. She is just a great person and a great junior bowler.”
When Cory is lost in her bowling she turns to her special mentor and one of Ipswich lanes bowling legends, Tommy Dudek, a four time Town Team Champion and holder of the Ipswich lanes record for men’s high ten.
The High School Sophomore told us she already knows what she wants to do in the future. After she graduates she plans on going to college for business management and one day she hopes to own and manage her own bowling alley.
“My inspiration is from my boss, Marc Barber. He shows me how fun bowling is and that running a bowling alley is a great experience.”said Cory
Cory also credited her coach for his help and encouragement. “Of coarse we can’t forget about Geoff! I would not be where I am in bowling without his advice and coaching. I know he loves all us kids!”
