The 2002 MBA Junior State
Tournament
Ahh yes, it's that time of year again! We brought the cameras along
with all our bowling gear to
Pilgrim Lanes in Haverhill, MA to give the kids some well deserved
coverage in this year's tourney.
The sportsmanship displayed at these events is simply amazing to see.
These days it's not uncommon
to hear about cases of parental rage during youth sports events on
the news. At this State tournament
it wasn't uncommon to see parents and coaches cheering for kids that
weren't even their own!
THAT'S THE WAY IT SHOULD BE!!
Reading em their rights...
Jean McColley, Tournament Director, explained all the
rules before each shift.
She does a tremendous job keeping everything under control
at the three week event.
Things run so smoothly that at times you can easily forget
you're at the State Tourney.
We have one question though. Doesn't Jean look like
she's over the line?
Did her rules really go into effect then? ...........Hmmm.
A future star in the making - 5 year old Madison
Kelly showed off her terrific form in front of her mom, Marianne and
Head Coach (aka) event referee, Bart Maderios
The House That Sil Built! - Sil Angelotti, founder of Pilgrim Lanes,
watched along proudly as the kids went about their bowling business. What can we say about him?..... Well there isn't enough space on this website to say all the nice things we could about Sil to be honest with you! He is a true gentleman in the game and this year the ICBA recognized Sil for his many great years of loyal service by inducting him into the Hall of Fame..... It couldn't happen to a nicer guy!
WELL DESERVED!
Speaking of watching proudly......

Missing from picture- Kim Calder, Liz Blake and Brent HaskinsKids, if your reading this, remember what I said...... I AM VERY PROUD OF YOU ALL!!
The spirit and sportsmanship you displayed was top notch and I was proud to wear a shirt that had a
Brian's Bowlaway logo on it during the two weekends we were there.... I can't wait till next year.Coach

"...Whadda you mean I get a PINK score card??"
NO WAY!
There's a new meaning to the term "meal deal" folks

James Emery got a big round of congrats from his fellow Pilgrim Lanes friends.
Emery threw a triple strike in the tenth box of his game......all thanks to the encouraging bribes
in the background during a fairly slow game. You see, he got a bet if he threw a triple strike
he'd get a free meal deal from the barbecue in the parking lot outside.....Not a bad deal!
Speaking of great bowlers from Pilgrim Lanes

You could say Robbie Taylor looks like a well decorated General out there,
and deservingly so! Robbie's a great kid on and off the bowling lanes and
he's one tough 10 year old bowler with a great future ahead of him!
Watch out Mr. Olzsta.
