R/C Trainer Planes

Sig Kadet Mk 2

The plane pictured above was the one I took my training lumps on. I made sure to return the favor. It was a great plane (emphasis on past tense) which taught me a ton about building, setting up engine and radio systems and of course flying. I do miss the plane and wish that I still had it so I could just play around, do some slow flight, a touch and go here and there, etc. Having seen some of the plywood ARF's that people bring to the field I can say that they simply don't compare to a well built Sig or Goldberg trainer kit that you build yourself. If I had it to do over again I would probably go with a Sig Kadet LT25. It's a tail dragger about the same size as my Mk2, but with laser cut parts and a simplified structure. As it is I have been sitting on a Kadet Seniorita kit for several years now. I plan on building it as lightly as possible, powering it with a .15 and maybe adding ailerons (the stock Seniorita is a 3 channel plane).
