After constructing BBS, it is possible to make this article can be seen from the web page. sangyoub

Dear, KNU Alumni; Time's going and going. Let's start first. At this stage there are no special rules we have to obey. ;-) You can try anything you want to do, if you can do that by yourself. The bottom line, however, is "let us know what happens after your trial." My suggestions are as follows 1. G. Lee: contact old talented(?) woman at FSI, KNU and explain on the current situation. Discuss what we can do for our juniors, especially those who eagle to study aboard and how we can communicate efficiently between FSI and us. Also you can request her to make a "Newsletter." how we can communicate efficiently between FSI and us. Also you can request her to make a "Newsletter." If you know how to contact "Hyun-Bae (87)", our jonior, who have done the alumni-related works for a long time, you also can talk to him. I heard that last time when they made alumni_list_CD, the information sections of the almost all alumni who are in abroad were filled up with blank and blank ... What a disapponinting !!! If you are too busy to do that let us know his address, I will. 2. S. Yoo: contact prof. Jong-Hyun Lee and you can do similar ones. He may be willing to support us. Here is a good news. Recently I visited EE web site and I found out that they have tried to collect alumni information through the web. They also ready to run BBS for EE alumni. 3. Y. Kim, B. Park, S. Kwak, W. Woo and others: We can start to develope our new web page. I got the mail from B. Park notifying that we can access the machine We can start to develope our new web page. I got the mail from B. Park notifying that we can access the machine "korea.usc.edu." From now on, we can develope BBS and include Newsletters and internet news groups in the home, if needed. Also we need to collect valuable information to fill up our new home page. Let's discuss how to achive them. Then, we can work together through the internet to develope a more comportable place for all of us as well as our juniors. Please, don't hesitate to throw your ideas, suggestions, odjections, etc. There are no NOTORIOUS regulation or censor laws... Anything will be welcomed. You are absolutely free from your words... ;-) I strongly believe that your efforts will definitely help us be in good shape. Thanks, but we may need voluntiers who are more familiar with ART(?) to get more attractive home pages or newsletters... ;-) Is there anyone who can take this responsibility? Please, answer... BTW, let me try to frequently update the current alumni home page, which is in my directory now. > I have a queation, Mr. Woo. What is the machine, Mr. Park, Byung-Gi > talked, Korea.usc.edu? Park may answer on this question... OK..sure, I can give you an answer.... My machine named by "korea.usc.edu" is connected to an Ethernet line. It's more than T1 line. When I checked last night by "ftp", it shows more than 3Gbps(not Kbps speed), of course connected to Internet directly. Right now, I am using both of Windows95, and Linux Slackware3.1. If we are decide to install BBS, then I have plan to install "SolarisOS" or fixing to use "Linux" for Multiple log-in through Internet. It's corresponding to your Unix machine with better Networking. Right now, I am not allow to others access onto my machine. If we are decide to use this machine for us, I will open it for you. It need just little bit of up-grading, since it have 16M of RAM and 800M of hard. It's more than enough to use by myself anyway. BBS is a part of Internet resource. It can be accessed by either way of via Internet or telephone. Internet access is better way on our purpose. Chonllian, Hitel, Nownuri, hanabbs.com, kids.kotel.co.kr, etc. is a BBS system. You are familierized with Chollian, Hitel, or Nownuri. We can install one for only us to communicate, and post our own "Newletter," and handle QandA without wasting our valuable time. Furthermore, those posting can be directly displayed on WWW without any further efforts. Thank you....

Hi, If you have any important message, you can send me. I do not want to read not important mails. I would like to help as much as I can. I went through graduate school, postdoc and faculty position at the States. When I started my graduate work (1984), there is no stduent from province areas other than Seoul. I knew KNU alumni's difficulty faced. I would suggest to everybody to overcome this problem to do the best job you can possiblely do in your position. Although I overcame this problem emotionally and professionally, I faced some difficulty in Korea. However, I am proud to say I graduated from KNU. I knew many alumni are doing well in the States and I am sure you are doing very well. I visited Korea three times at last 1 year and I gave a 50th anniversary talk at KNU this year. Thus, I met many KNU's faculties. They explained situations in KNU, and obvioulsy it was not very bright. One of the shocking findings is lack of imformation. It was not so much different from 15 years ago when I checked graduate programs. If you dicide to do certain things to help students at KNU, I will follow it. If anybody wants to talk to me, please contact me. I will respond promptly. Good luck in your work. Seong-Gi Kim ('76, Applied Chemistry)

Dear, alumni; Sorry for this repeated broadcasting. I got an email from an alumnus, pointing out that frequent broadcastings using an email is not an effecient way to communicate. I also admited that... Thus, I would like to suggest to use the "KNU Newsletter", which is providey by Mr. Sang-hwan Gwak, until new channel is settled down. Let's bookmark the following web site and keep our eyes on it. http://www.oocities.org/CapeCanaveral/1246/KNU.html Of course, you have to send email to S. Gwak, if you have anything to broadcast... See you there. Thanks.

Dear, KUN Alumni; It's Woon-Tack Woo at USC. Let's celebrate !!! The KNU Alumni BBS came back. I hope it may not be turned off anymore. During last weekend, we upgraded our BBS system from P100 to P150 by donations of alumni in USC. Also, we extened main memory into 32M from 16M since S. Lee is willing to let us use his memory. Thank all of you for your sincere supports... Another thing I want to ask... Recently I've got several mails from alumni who are currently preparing studying abroad in near future. I am trying to answer personally but the main problem is that they have similar questions. Thus I think it's better to use our new alumni BBS since we can help them together and also others can get some basic information. Using the FAQ may also save our times. For that purpose there is a borard named studyabroad in the BBS. Fewdays ago, I uploaded several versions of university rankins. Drop by and leave your opinion there. We can meet our junior there. Tyr and enjoy it !!! HomePage: http://sipi.usc.edu/~wwoo/KNU BBS: telnet korea.usc.edu (Enter "bbs") NesLetter: http://www.oocities.org/CapeCanaveral/1246/KNU.html Thanks. See you there. W. Woo

One tale There were three sprinters, an English, a Germany, and a French. The French ran first through 100 meters with full speed and asked "why did I run?" The Germany sat down at the start line and was thinking "why do I have to run?" The Englich was running and thinking "why I am running?" I'd like to follow the last guy. How about you? (If you have any good tale, send me an
