WHAT'S NEW ON SMAKR
SMAKR - Scale Model Aircraft Kit Reviews!!
This page lists all the alterations and additions to the SMAKR site each time it is updated, so is very useful to know what review has been added in and so forth. A running total of how many reviews there are is shown in brackets for your info. Also, at the end of each month an earlier month's list is condensed into a paragraph summarising the updates so this page doesn't get too out of hand. This page was not introduced until November 98, hence the rather vague summaries since when the site opened at the end of September 98. You are welcome to email suggestions etc anytime : braithy@bigpond.com

NOVEMBER 1998
* Reached 70 Kit Reviews on the site
* Added in "Related Reviews" Hyperlinks to those aircraft who have more than one
kit in any scale and variant featured on this site. These hyperlinks are located at the
end of each review allowing one to go directly to another kit review related to that
aircraft (see Italeri 1/72 F-51D as an example - contains
hyperlinks to Monogram 1/72 P-51B & Monogram 1/48 P-51D). All the reviews
covering the same aircraft type have been updated with these links, please report any
broken or problem links. This was included on the site thanks to a couple of
"suggestion" e-mails.
* Have had to add in more boxart requests on the submissions page
I am looking for. Please send a scanned image if you are able to on any of those
missing box covers requested.
* Humbrol cross reference page added, a bit time intensive in loading,
but is very comprehensive in matches and hopefully as accurate as one can get it
* MISCELLANEOUS Page added into the Web site (finally), still under construction
* Reference page compiled covering the T-39 Sabreliner (See Miscelleanous page)
* Updated "Smer 1/72 Spitfire Vb" - deleted illustration of a suspected example
which turned out to be a Va, thanks to Lawrence Bates who pointed this out
* Revised a number of kit reviews - just went through some of the first reviews put onto
the site that were compiled from notes, and they were a little rushed in format. Just
basically reworded them and in a couple of cases added in some brief history on the
aircraft that were previously missing. Other than rewording and a few slight
alterations the review itself has not been changed in anyway - those revised are: Meteor
F.1, Mistel, Scout, Yak-38, N-9MA and Reppu.
* Honoured my first kit request early in November the 1/72 Revell NH.90 helicopter, which
was ironically the first kit that was actually requested as well! It also achieved
another milestone being the 50th actual kit review on this site!
* This WHATS NEW page commenced its operation on the site on 2 November
* I configured the site to include a "Guestbook" for viewing and signing,
I had previously not been really enthused about this but have learned from others that's
it a good idea and a lot of people like signing it - in addition to name, email and URL it
asks for preferences of Scale (eg: 1/72 or 1/48), what subject you like modelling (World
war 2, jets etc) and what is your favourite model brand (Hasagawa, Revell etc) plus a
comments box to have some input
* Also added "Coming Soon" which just details intentions for subject material to
be included on the web site, not specifically kits because these are added in frequently
anyway
* Achieved 1,000 hits! Yes, the web site finally had a thousand
hits, not bad considering it's only been up just over a month, obviously many are revisits
etc but it's good to know that people are interested in the site. Thanks!
October 1998
* Large refurbishing of the site to get things a little more downpact,
including a separate information page on the site and a requests page added in for people
to request specific kit reviews.
* Became a member of various web rings - (Aero, Sclae Modeller and Wolf's Models)
* About 30-40 Kit reviews on the site by the end of October with about 800 hits on the
site
* Some initial teething problems (mainly graphics) fixed
* Restructured my "Homestead" - Geocities name for the directory where all your
stuff resides - and included separate directory structures for box art and images,
previously all in one root directory
* Thanks to "Jeff" who has sent a zipped up file full of box art to keep on
hand!!
** 30 SEPTEMBER 1998 **
BELLS AND WHISTLES - SMAKR - OPENS TO THE PUBLIC!!
* The site is officially up and running, first kits to be added in are the Tamiya Meteor,
Italeri F-51D Mustang & Mistel 1
* Thank god that everything works okay, looks like there might be a few teething problems
but I will sort these out later
* Prior to this the site started construction about a week or two beforehand
* Having obtained permission to publish local club magazine kit reviews, it's obvious that
this is going to be an excellent opportunity to create a useful resource on the Internet
for the local modelling club and those interested in the hobby from all around the world.
Let's hope that this is the case and many people benefit from it.
