MIN-CF3
Today (05/27/98) two samples of the M(P)CF5307 CPU arrived. Thank you very much Motorola (esp. Mr. Roth). It's speed grade isn't marked on the chip, but it is said that it has been tested up to the full 90MHz. Now let's see how fast my handwired prototype will run in the end...
5 minutes after I opened the box, one processor was already soldered to the prototype adapter:
This adapter is a thin self-adheisive PCB mad by Wainwright MiniMount System. Unfortunately they don't have a webb page but I love their system. After the chips are soldered to the adapters, you simply glue the adapters on a big board and wire them according to your schematics using eg. enameled wire. The only backdraw is that you can't easily place decoupling capacitors very near to the chip. This sometimes limits the max. working frequency of systems. But when your prototype finally works, you're pretty sure, that the first multilayer PCB which you produce after the corrected schematics will run.
