Fujitsu F2MC Projects

Middle 2000 I decided to get my feet wet with the CAN bus.
After reading all the paperware (specifications of the bus, some controllers etc.) I soon realized, that the best way to get some deeper insights would be playing around with some real hardware. If this would have been a part of a project of my employer, I would just have ordered some development kits of some interesting devices and would have gone from there. But since it was pure personal interest, I decided to build my own development environment. The designers of Fujitsus F2MC CAN controllers seemed to know my wishlist and embedded all features (and a lot more) into their MB90F5xx series:

Using one of the adapters you might know from the MIN-CF3 prototype photos, a small basic "system" with the MB90F598 was soon up and running.
The photo shows all you need for the first steps: a reset generator (upper left), a quartz, a switch (run/program), a RS232 converter and - of course - the controller itself:
