full-service PW-5 dealer, is holding the 1st Annual Peak Soaring World Class and Sports
Class Contest. The official dates are now May 21-25 with a practice day set for
May 20.
The contest is sanctioned by the SSA and the entry fee has been increased
to $280 due to the extension of the official dates. There will be no
late fee due to the fact we started organizing the contest so late.
This will be a fun contest for both beginning and experienced contest pilots alike. Pilots
new to contest flying will find this an fun and educational experience. Cross-country
soaring experience, parachutes and a mounted camera are the only requirements. A steak and
chicken BBQ will be held on Saturday the 23rd for all entrants. Trophies will be awarded
the winner in each class. Pilots registered 30 days in advance will be mailed a turnpoint
list with lat/lon coordinates. Advanced registration fee is $195 and must be postmarked by
April 20th. The fee for late registration is $225. Registration includes contest tows and
one re-light, but does not include practice day tows. Volunteers are needed to help
organize May 21-25 and are requested to contact Peak Soaring at your earliest conveinence.
The two classes will allow the PW-5 World Class pilots to fly in a one-design competition pitting pilot against pilot. The sports class will be judged with the latest CH handicaps to make it possible for any pilot to win regardless of what you fly. This contest is not just for the glass drivers! A minimum of three World Class entrants must register 30 days in advance to maintain the class. In the event we have too few entries for the World Class we will group the remaining entrants into the sports class. The contest will be governed by FAI rules. Pilots who wish to share the racing with a partner are welcomed to do so by declaring this at registration. Tasks will be a combination of assigned and pilot-option turn points.
