into this problem, as I am getting very
discusted and annoyed with having to disconnect

Regarding bonus survey: On question 8, there was not an option that
really applied to me. I have tried to
de-activate the call waiting twice, with no
success. Since that time, I have left it on
because I do want to receive incoming calls.
The false interrupt problem is the biggest
problem I've had, so I appreciate your attempts
at finding a resolution. I would suggest
mentioning this survey on the Andreson's
guestbook page so maybe even more people could
respond. I was looking into getting a second
phone line, but I guess I'll wait and see what
devolops... Thanks!

sure don't want it to get as bad as AOL is
reported to be. If it becomes too much of a
problem we will need to contact WebTV.
Regarding bonus survey: Only had to reduce sensitivity one notch to
solve problem.
Regarding bonus survey: Your survey questions #9 and #5 are invalid and
shouldn't be used in your final analysis.
They don't provide an absolute negative
(i.e., "I don't have this problem.").

WWWebTV: Sorry for the confusion,
yes the reference to the WebTV info site actually
should be worded as Club WebTV, see the direct link below,
and on the main page.

next. Other than this annoying problem it's a
super system! e-mailed phillips/mag two weeks
ago and never got answer.
Regarding bonus survey: Many of the above bonus survey questions do not pertain to
my SONY unit. I may have had one interuption
when I first went on line, but nothing that I
can really recall I wonder how many of the
people having problems are running cords of
more than 25 feet from phone wall plug or near
magnetic fields ?

Regarding bonus survey: #9. Had problem with call waiting intruptions
and power interruptions so often wanted to
discontinue using, received another unit, no
longer have power interruptions but frequently
do with message webtv has interrupted service
freeing your line to receive another call. I
wait about 5 seconds and reconnect hoping this
is long enough, am told by friends at times
that they tried to call but I must be on
internet because they couldn't get through. It
is annoying because often it takes awhile to
get back on. has happened twice while filing
out this survey with no call.
Regarding bonus survey: I do occasionally experience false call-waiting
interrupts, but I am sure it is not my WebTV
box. My phone line itself is noisy. In fact,
you can even pick up the phone sometimes and
hear crackling static on the line. Ma Bell
around here is a lazy welfare mother.

All of these people on here complaining about
the speed of upgrades and what WebTV will not
do. Why did you spend $329 for this when you
could have spent thousands on a PC? That way
then you could have a real reason to vent your
frustrations. Whine, whine, whine! Upgrades
will come at the right time, when the
technology makes it right. Let's do it right!
Geez! You can't get the world for $329, so like
they say, patience is a virtue. You knew up
front that this was not a PC. THIS IS INTERNET
FOR THE REST OF US! Be young, have fun, surf's

Miami, Fla wrote: Page..it's informative,
but please video video video and RealAudio 3.0
so I can listen to radio stations all over,
also can someone please explain in computer-sem-illiterate
language what exactly is a frame ?
WWWebTv: Presently WebTV does not support frames.
Frames allows you to work with a multiple of menus without
having to link to separate pages.
Regarding bonus survey: In re # 2 and 10: When I first hooked webtv up
in mid-Dec. I had the call-waiting interupt
problem a few times. After I turned the
sensitivity down a little I haven't had the
problem for the last month. Seems to be solved.
Regarding bonus survey: My dialing sensitivity is set to #2 above LOW.
This cured the problem. I was having a reset problem where the unit
would reinitialize and turn-off, moving the box
from on-top to along side the TV seems to have
cured it.
Orlando, Florida. wrote: My friends were not impressed with my WebTV, because they

Regarding bonus survey: Question #2 I get cut off but I can not
determine any set pattern or don't think it
matters if I'm surfing the web or writing
e-mail it will shutdown and go to the televison
station channel on the set, When I re-connect
it will ask if I have a new phone number.

Oh no!
Regarding bonus survey: Re: #6 When I first purchased the unit I had
it set to call-waiting disconnect option and
would receive very frequent interruptions. I
would pick up the phone and no one would be
there. So, after looking in the user manual I
adjusted the sensitivity all the way down and
have not had any recent interruptions for over
3 weeks now.. Although I have been told that
not ALL calls go through, a majority of them
do... Thank you..

at most sensitive my web unit will shut dowm on
the first ring , if I adjust it down one notch

tenth ring .
#9- It seems that when I start a web page is
when I have the most trouble with call waiting
and no call coming in.

they said it was probably noise on the line.
They replaced the drop line from my house to

pair of lines directly to their office. After
they did all of the above, call waiting very
rarely disconnects me falsely.

problem for several hours until the occassional
disconnect of telephone service where I get the
message "This call has been interrupted....
I have achieved this relative state of bliss
only because WebTV Customer Support has been
able to lock into an ISP in my area that is
relatively stable.
Is it possible that this problem may be due to
a build-up of static electricity? (My set-top
box resides on top of my TV set.

secure so Smartcard is a waste of time and
money. Making the E-Mail portion available to a
web browser on a PC would be money better
spent. Many people are purchasing it to
suppliment internet access already available
through an employer. Webtv allows the rest of
the family to have E-mail. Almost everywhere
you go on the net they ask for your Email

almost everyday. Since Webtv and my PC share
the same line, I am constantly switching back
and forth. You would be able to attract a
bigger market if you just added this support.
Not just the non-PC households, as that number
is getting smaller by the day.
As far as WECARE, sorry, the response is too
slow, the reps put you on hold when they
finally do call back. I have been in Customer
Service for 12+ years and this service is the
worst I've seen. Even E-mail is slower then
snailmail, if it is answered at all. I
personally was on hold to the 800 number for
1.5 hours, waited 25 days before someone called
me back and they stuck me on hold and forgot
about me, I hung up after .5 hours of waiting
for them to come back. This is not customer
service, it's customer abuse.
