Re Q1: I use the S-Video input to my TV which doesn't go through my VCR. Is it OK to route the video input through my VCR anyway?
Please respond to Kentucky's question using the "On-Line Forum Page"

Fix on-screen distortion by adjusting your television's contrast/picture control.

Re Q1: I haven't found any reason to video tape a screen yet, but it's not ruled out of the possiblity. However, a printer for some screens would be more desirable especially for viewing lots of text. Some people have a difficult time reading text on the TV screen and get dizzy when scrolling. Taping to a VCR wouldn't relieve this problem as much as getting a hard copy.
Re Q4: I am not confident enough in the security of putting my CC #'s over the internet. If there were more examples of transaction security, I would happily use the internet to shop till I dropped.

I will use video tape when WebTV has video capability.

Tip: When you fill all the spots in your favorites you can send yourself a letter writting down all your web site addresses starting with http://www. entering after each site then send it to yourself when you recive it save it then when you want a site you can click on the address from you letter

Re Q1: I haven't had any reason to record any pages via of a VCR . My unit is not hooked up to a VCR.

Tip: My next TV for the WebTv will be with Picture -in-Picture and will have the S video jack for a better image of the web sites and graphics.

Re Q1: Videotape? I use a HiFi Vcr to tape audio files.
Re Q3: Pay toll charges? I upgraded to a flat rate.

Re Q1: I've been aware since day one that a vcr can be used with WebTv, but have not used them in conjunction...however, I'm thinking of using the vcr as a storage device to clean up the "favorites" in my webtv unit. I'll be saving still pictures, lists, etc.,not websites of course.
Re Q4: I'm a bit apprehensive about internet shopping, but i have already purchased stuff from businesses that I have found on the net. I get their name and address and send them a check, never a credit card number, and I search the Net just to see if there are companies that sell what I want to buy (mostly cult-film videos,cd,books)...

Re Q1: I haven't used my VCR much yet, but I have taped several episodes of the Superman radio serial at DC Comics Online. BTW, does anyone know if a site called RadioClassics is still running?

Re Q3: Webtv has given me a local number for UUNET access which is superior to the Concentric number for my area in terms of availability. Real happy with it. If I get a busy on UUNET (rare) it dials a 800 number and gets me in that way. Your computer's ISP ain't gonna DO that folks. Great service.

Tip: Try the Webtv Forum and Webtv Talk sites too. But come back here and do Pete's survey every week. It keeps him happy. He pouts otherwise.

Re Q4: Once WebTV gets SSL security, I intend to do alot of personal business on line. I live in a community of 35,000 that has limited retail. The net opens up alot of resources to the hinterland. I might as well be paying shipping charges as delivery charges. (Our local Sears wouldn't deliver my new TV so I had to hire a local delivery service.)

Re Q3: I've been paying full long distance charges since Nov. I'll call them and ask if there's going to be a local POP-# coming soon ,but I get the same answer, "They don't have a definate schedule on issuing Local POP#'s....

Tip: I got stuck on the 'unable to reach WebTV.... routine maintance" trouble msg. recently. GOWEBTV asked me to simulate a power outage by unpluging for one minute and logging on again as a "new number". This gets you to the POP via the webtv 1-800 number. No toll charge and since old number = new number the original local routing is restored at the next log-on.
New number/same number query will not appear on subsequent log-ons unless there is a real power outage.
