The first allied jet fighter. Its combat use
in WWII was limited to intercepting V-1's. Meteor was the first jet fighter
in the IAF. On August 31, 1955 the 117-th squadron's pilot Aharon Yoeli
on Meteor F.8 downed two Egyptian Vampires. The Israeli Meteors scored
at least four air-to-air kills. The Meteor also performed reconnaissance
and ground attack missions. After 1956 Sinai campaign, the Meteor was used
as trainer until 1965.
