On part of the goods saved from the wreck of the late Barque Colborne. |
To all to whom these presents shall
come. Be it known and made manifeste that we,
the undersigned John Vibert, merchant and
master mariner, Léger Lambert, merchant and
agent, and James McCraken, merchant and
formerly ship owner, have this day, in
obedience to the order of the Court of
Special Session, assembled at Port Daniel in
the County of Port Daniel in the County
Bonaventure in the District and Province
aforesaid, and at the instance and request of
Alexander Mavor, second mate and chief
surviving officer of the barque or vessel
called the Colborne of London, of the burthen
of three hundred and thirty tons or
thereabouts, whereof the late William Kent
was master, now lying stranded and wrecked
near Port Daniel aforesaid, in her late
voyage from London, to the port of Quebec and
Montreal in this Province, loaded with a
general cargo, duly and carefully surveyed
two casks of schiedam, one thereof
damaged, four pieces of flushing, one piece
ratean, two pieces of tweed, four casks of
blacking and one bale of merino, land and
stored under lock in a store on the east side
of Port Daniel River beach and saved from the
wreck of the said barque or vessel called the
Colborne. We therefore do hereby certify and declare that on such survey, we have carefully examined the said two casks of schiedam, four pieces of flushing, one piece of rateen, two pieces of tweed, four casks of blacking and one bale of merino, so saved as aforesaid and find the same with the exception of one cask of schiedam, so much damaged and in a perishable state as to require to be sold without further delay which we strongly recommend to be done as the only means of securing the interests of all parties interested or concerned therein. In testimony whereof we have hereunto set our hands at Port Daniel in the County, District and Province aforesaid (where no stamps are used) this twenty ninth day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty eight, having signed two certificates all of the said tenor and date. |
