What is the Tailhook Association?
The Tailhook Association is a non profit corporation, dedicated to foster, encourage, study, and develop the aircraft carrier, sea-based aircraft, both fixed and rotary wing, and aircrew of the United States of America and to educate the public in their appropriate role in the Nations's defense system.
The Tailhook Association produces an outstanding quarterly publication, THE HOOK which is the only publication in the world dedicated to telling the story of US Navy carrier avaition. Chocked full of historical and current articles, world class photography, patch pages and a whole lot more.

A bit about me....
My name is Darryl Shaw and my hobby is studying aircraft carriers and carrier aviation. I've been doing so for about 19 years or over half of my life....I am a part-time freelance writer/photographer specializing in naval aviation. I've been aboard 3 different aircraft carriers and have flown in a CP-140

, CH-46

and the simulator for the navy's newest fighter, the F/A-18 Hornet. That experience alone, will forever put video games to shame.
I collect all things related to naval aviation, including photos, histories, cruise books and patches. I currently have a patch collection numbering over 650 different designs which will hopefully be turned into a book on the subject one day. I am a freelance writer/photographer and an avid collector of all things naval aviation related. I have had some of my patch collection as well as photos used in Hornet: Naval Strike Fighter, the add-on for the popular Falcon 3.0 series of flight sims

and had a small selection of photos appear in Dennis Jenkin's book, Grumman F-14 Tomcat as well as a few examples in THE HOOK magazine.
