100TH TRAINING WING
The 100th Training Wing fundamentally responds to the challenge of the aviational academe. Situated in cool and pine-clad Fernando Air Base, the wing caters largely to the basic educational and training requirements of the entire Philippine Air Force. The wing maintains the standards governing the skill development and education of Air Force officers and enlisted men as it supervises the Philippine Air Force Flying School, the PAF Technical Training Center, and the Non-Commissioned Officer Academy. On September 22, 1999, its mission and functions were absorbed by the Air Education and Training Command and the 100th Training Wing eventually deactivated.
The Philippine Air Force
Flying School is the country's premier military school for aviation. It establishes
the training atmosphere and related academic programs for the qualification
of pilot undergraduates.
Aircraft used for training in the primary stage is the T-41D Cessna where students usually complete fifty hours. The faster low winged SF-260 TP Marchetti provides the initial feel of the G-forces during the basic phase, before the students are advanced to the specialization using the UH-1H and MG-520 helicopters. The program is geared toward the early introduction of pilots to their respective aircraft choices to avoid the common practice of training-in-operation.
The
PAF Technical Training Center mainly provides technical training to student
officers, enlisted personnel, trainees and civilian employees of the AFP. In
this respect, it lays out the guidance system for the administration of the
Air Force as it conducts basic and specialized technical courses on career areas
of officers, enlisted personnel and employees.
The NCO Academy provides the basic and professional military education to PAF enlisted personnel. It is the first learning institution of all airmen, solely responsible for their knowledge of the AFP's structure, chain of command, courtesy and discipline, customs and traditions, military leadership, pride in the service, and sense of duty and honor.
