Headquartered at Danilo Atienza Air Base, Sangley Point, Cavite, the 15th Strike Wing, so called for its ground strike capability, observes deployment of its various aircraft in different parts of the country. Providing close air support and particularly strong in special operations, the unit approximates the versatility of the 205th Tactical Operations Wing behind an enviable line of OV-10 Broncos, and MG 520 Defenders.

Notable among its functions, aside from the fundamental administrative responsibilities, training programs, aerodrome maintenance, civil military operations, and tactical support to ground and naval forces, is its emphasis on the development of plans and programs for for counterinsurgency and special warfare operations. Application of this plans has brought the Wing top honors in the peace efforts of the Air Force.
