420TH SUPPLY WING

The birth of the 420th Supply Wing could be traced back to the pre-war years when the 1st Air Material Wing Group of the Philippine Army Air Corps was activated on 19 January 1936.

Loading of supplies via C-130 HWhen the Air Force expanded during the middle of the 70's, the new found role of the command in nation building emphasized the need for a more logistics oriented organization which brought about the creation of the 420th Logistics Wing on 11 February 1974. Forming the backbone of the newly created unit are the personnel coming from the defunct 410th Directorate of Supply Services who played the dual role of being the PAF Supply Center and the Supply Office of all units stationed in Nichols Air Base. Its mission then was to procure, store, manage and issue PAF supplies and equipment and to provide heavy transportable services. In 1976, the PAF Mini Mart was created to cater to the essential items of the PAF units stationed in Nichols Air Base. For awhile, the supply role was integrated back to the 410th Air Material Wing. With the creation of the 55th Air Logistics Division on 16 March 1979, the 420th Supply Wing became one of the subordinate wings. However, after the famous February Revolution in 1986, the 55th Air Logistics Division was unmanned which paved the way for the 420th Supply Wing as an independent unit of the PAF. To date, the Wing has under it the following squadrons: 421st Inventory Management Squadron, 423rd Warehousing and Brokerage Squadron, 425th Supply and Support Squadron, 426th Philippine Air Force Supermart, 427th Armaments and Munition Squadron, 428th POL Management Squadron, 429th Publications and Distribution Squadron and Advance Command Post Cubi.
