Where to Go Nude?

The American Association For Nude Recreation (Formally the American Sunbathing Association) is the primary organization representing most nudist groups, clubs, and resorts.  Their clubs are of the highest standards.  See their Directory of AANR Clubs in Canada and the US.

My favorite resorts here in Florida are:

Sunsport Gardens - Near West Palm Beach.  A very friendly laid back resort and campground surrounded by lush sub-tropical vegetation.  Great food and a good mix of people.

Sunny Sands - Near Daytona Beach.  A quiet family and retirement  type place surrounded by southern pines.  More a small community than resort.  A place where a quiet seeking Floridian like me could easily retire.

Cypress Cove - Near Orlando and Disney world.  The Disney World of nudist resorts.  Condos, first class restaurants, lots of activities.  A short drive from the Orlando attractions.

Paradise Lakes - Near Tampa.  Another first class resort in any sense of the word.  Younger crowd than "The Cove".  Clothing Optional (nudity not required).

Sunnier Palms - Near Ft. Pierce (see directory for phone and directions).  A very friendly small Co-op, and a great place to stop in for a quiet escape.

Lake Como - Near Tampa (see directory for phone and directions).  Older and less flashy than the "Cove" or "Paradise", but with all the facilities.  A taste of what Florida was like before the homogenizing migrations descended from the north.

My favorite beaches are:

Haulover Beach - North Miami Beach.  Founded and patrolled by South Florida Free Beaches (SFFB).  Designated nude area.  Lifeguards, towering condo's and hotels nearby, and a very urban, international crowd.  Brings in big bucks for Dade county ($3.50? a car).  A shining star and example of what can be done.

Playalinda and Apollo Beaches - Part of the Canaveral National Seashore, just north of the Kennedy Space Center.  The sheriff is on the lose in Playalinda, and parking is about nil at Apollo.  Check with the
Central Florida Naturists site for status.

Mazo Beach on the Wisconsin River west of Madison.  A short season along a river that tends to flood.  A very friendly, lively crowd of mainly university students and professors.  No legal hassles (federal land).

Black's Beach - North of San Diego.  Officially, nude use is presently illegal, but not enforced.  Huge crowds, high cliffs, great surf.

AANR publishes the "North American Guide to Nude Recreation" with photographs of many clubs, along with detailed facilities and contact information.

The Naturist Society publishes the "World Guide to Nude Beaches and Resorts", detailing places around the world where nude use is tolerated or accepted.

These books can be ordered via the internet or over the phone, and arrive discretely.  The photography in these books is beautiful, tasteful, and forms an excellent introduction of what nudism/naturism is all about.    Both books are highly recommended.
