Phantastic

      PHANTOM!
Cadets
at Usworth thought that halloween had come early when they saw what had landed
in their compound! A Phantom FGR2 cockpit has been added to inventory courtesy
of the RAF. This makes a fine display opposite the squadrons Vampire T11.

The Phantom is XV460 and served in 19,31,56,74+92 squadrons
and 228 OCU. It is currently in 56 Squadron colours (The Firebirds) The aircraft
was scrapped as part of the SALT (Strategic Arms Limitation Treaty) So the
squadron can now expect regular satellite overflights!
Thanks to all who voted in the great TeslaCoil debate.45% of you thought we were honest-and we are! They do exist! So ends our conundrum which started in issue 2.That was a picture of Mr Tesla-but his coil is nothing like a Polo mint. You've all seen one-in Dr Frankenstien's laboratory. So, any queries,ask............. HAPPIER DAYS
HYLTON REVISITED (Not 'Cauld'
    Enough)
    Continuing our 'Spooky' theme
it seems our spelling has come back to haunt us.During our Hylton Castle Millennium
edition we talked about the Caad Lad-this should have been the
'Cauld Lad'.As quoted in a century old book.Who are we to argue?

Already our Phantom has become famous! It gets
a mention in the September issue of 'Flypast'.(Page
17-News) On commenting about the scrapping of ten Phantoms the editor says,
"It seems unlikely that we shall see any of these ten in museums."
Well, we have good news. XV460 (cockpit at least) will spend a long
and happy life in the North East-courtesy of 2214(Usworth) Squadron

It's less Bovver wiv a Hover!......Cutting Edge Technology?...come back and get the low(and we do mean LOW)down!
