| Order-9 has three different patterns and is the smallest
order where the number of solutions is not the same for each pattern. Patterns A and B are continuous, pattern C consists of three superimposed triangles. (3 x 3 = 9). Pattern A 3014 solutions 2:12:43 running time Each solution contains the consecutive series of integers from 1 to 18. The sum of this series is 171, there are 9 lines with each cell appearing in 2 lines, so the magic constant (S) is (2 x 171)/9 = 38. Order-9B has no solutions with b = 2. |
