Transporter Eagle 3D Model by George Leonberger

Introduction
One thing I loved about Space: 1999 was the physical design of the show...and the Eagle spacecraft in particular. I was (and still am) a fan of the real-world space program, and the Space: 1999 Eagle was a ship whose design didn't seem that farfetched. I like to imagine landing an Eagle and exploring some remote part of the moon where there are no footprints or tire tracks. Even in the universe in which Moonbase Alpha exists, there must still be a few such places on the grey world.
I have seen many 3D models of the Eagle on the web (all of them great!), but none so far for the Moray modelling program. I hope you enjoy it. Scroll down to download the model, see what the Eagle would look like in today's world and to view the Gallery.

Download
This Eagle model is free to download as long as you use it only for your own pleasure and not profit. Just a note about the cockpit: it is not an exact replica of the show's. There was a big difference between the original filming model's interior and the set used by the live actors. The cockpit in this 3D model is an approximation and is not meant to be viewed from the inside.
To render this model, you'll also need to download the following two programs:
Moray v.3 (shareware) and POV-ray for Windows (freeware).

The Eagle Today
Here are few images of the Eagle as it might appear in our world today (it is past the year 1999 after all). I have always tried to imagine what it would be like to see an Eagle in real life and until one is actually built, this is the closest I can come. I am not a graphics professional but I have done the best I can. The scale of the Eagle to the real world items should be roughly correct.

Gallery
Below are a few pics of the model. Some are 640x480 and some are 320x240 in size. Most of these images are not complete scenes, but they give you some views of the ship and pilots.

Invaluable in the making of this Eagle model were the many pictures available on the internet of the original filming models.
The main blueprints used were the Starlog Eagle blueprints found in Starlog #7.

And thanks to the authors of all the other Eagle models out there on the web.

I highly recommend you check out the many other computer models of the Eagle available on the internet. A good place to go is the Catacombs. Go to Space: 1999.net, click on Catacombs and then visit their Eagle links. Lots of treasures there! Don't miss it.
