I have decided to write this week's Evil of the Week a day early because I do not
want to write it tomorrow.
I saw on the news the other night that another 13 year-old boy was shot by a 15 year-old who
was playing with a gun. This would prompt most people to say that we need to get rid of guns,
but I was shocked when I heard the mother of the boy who did the shooting say that it wasn't the
gun that shot the boy.
The second amendment was written so that we could defend ourselves if the country were ever
invaded or the government gave themselves too much power. The liberals that are advocating
gun control realize this. They want to get rid of guns so that they will be able to get a stronger
control on your life. They are already trying to take all your money that you earn and give it to
those who do not deserve it. They are doing all of this in the name of your children.
Citizens who support gun control are either naive or they do not think. I think that most
people do not think. They see on the news that a boy was shot and so they say that guns are bad
and need to be done away with. They do not think of what the government will do when we do
not have guns. The naive ones do not think that the government could do such a thing. Would
the government do such a thing? We have already seen how the Clinton administration has abused
their power by ordering the F. B. I. files (of course the Clintons had nothing to do with that).
They would gladly take away every one of your other rights.
This is yet another case in which we need to educate not legislate. Educate the people not
to use guns in this manner. Unfortunately, people see in the movies, on the television, and in
children's programing that people are killing other people without thinking twice. The education
process may take longer but it is worth the wait. "The best things come to those that wait." It is too
bad that people want instant results, and they are used to them in this instant world we live in.
People don't have to wait anymore because they are used their microwaves, computers, and fast
cars. When the government legislates they take away another right and so we lose a bit of our
power to those people who took the power, and without elections we are powerless to stop them.
