We've been witnessing mudslinging all over our televisions and that can only mean one thing.... It's time to vote again. Unfortunately, a very low voter turn out is expected. Why? So many people do not care who is running the government as long as there is a chicken in their pot. Well this is terrible. You can make a difference if you turn out and vote for someone who shares your values. There are important elections going on this November even though we are not electing a new president. Two-thirds of the states have a Senate seat up for election, and every seat in the House of Respresentatives is up for election. Congress makes most the governmental decisions that effect our lives, not the president like most people think. Many states including Ohio have a governor and state level congresses to elect. There are judges and municipal level seats available also so check out whose running in your area and vote for the one you feel is best. Don't forget the issues either there are issues for your schools and oher important organizations, and some relating to laws. In Ohio we have to decide whether to make mourning doves a song bird again or continue to hunt them. There is no scientific reason why we shouldn't hunt them, but a bunch of tree huggers wants us to feel sorry for them. I don't care what you vote for if your registered then get your self educated on the candidates and the issues and go out and vote. If you are not registered and are of age then register so that you can vote in the spring. Yes elections do happen in the spring. |
