I recently went through the anniversary of my birth, more often than not refered to as a birthday. Why do we celebrate such stupid things? Kids see them as an excuse to get free crap which they will open remove from the package throw on the floor and play with the package. They are used to mark points in your life in which you are given more privileges and responsibilities. Why does one day make a difference? When a person reaches the age in which they are given an additional privilege are they any more ready for it than a person a day younger? In virtually every instance you will find someone who is more ready for it at a younger age than but can not partake, and some are just not ready to handle the privilege.

Age shouldn't be the only measure of a person's readiness for it, but how can we set a standard by which we can measure a person's readiness? This is a question that we will never have answered.

That's just a little something for you to think about the next time you turn 39.
