February, it's a month that traditionally has been
recognized as the month for lovers and presidents.
Appearantly some presidents are better lovers than others.
Just ask Bill. Recently, however, it has become that wonderful
time of the year in which we remember black history. News
broadcasts tell us about the first "African American" woman to
have a baby in North America. Why should we care? Most of the
events that are described are very insignificant and have
nothing to do with my life. I fail to see how such an event can
possibly reduce any racial tension that may exist thanks to media's
perpetuation of it. In my opinion separating the races so that
one can be honored for a month is the very way to cause racism,
not the way to stop it. If the media would stop telling us how
racist everyone is then we would not have most of the racial problems
we have today.
I recently saw on the news that some boys were removed from school
because they put a noose around a girl's neck. The story could
have been left at that, but the newscaster had to tell us that it
was white boys and a black girl. Therefore, implying that somehow
this was racially motivated. The mention was brief and there was
no indication as to whether or not racism was involved. I find it
interesting that when a black person kills a white person that it
was merely for theft, but when a white person kills a black person then
somehow racism was involved. Does this seem right to you? "European Americans"*
are not the only ones who are the only ones who are racists. Take
a look at that show "The Jeffersons." George Jefferson was just about as
much a racist as any confederate who fought the abolishion of
slavery because "Negroes are inferior." Take a look at the leader
of the Nation of Islam, Louis Farakhan, part of his doctrine is that
the U.S. should give up part of its land to establish a blacks only
country. This was tried with the establishment of Liberia. It didn't work
because the majority of blacks are pretty happy here and they are sure
that things couldn't be any better over there.
If the media would not infer any signs of racism I am sure that these
problems would go away. If they would show us how we are the same then
we would not need to see how we are different. Frankly I am sick of
seeing racial diversity stuff. Let's start taking a look at racial similarities.
If we cannot stop seeing people's skin color then we will not be able to
stop racism. The best way to stop seeing skin color is to start looking
at people and not giving special rights and privileges to minorities.
We should not acknowledge the concept of minorities either because we are
all in the majority human race.
*We have to be politically correct now. I'm just as white as an "African American" is black.
