I saw on the news last night that People for the Ethical Treatment of animals (PET) put an unusual billboard. It stated that Jesus was a vegetarian. Where did they come up with that? According to the report they were going to put up a billboard stating that meat causes impotence. If people want us to stop killing "inocent" animals then they will have to come up with a more logical reason than that.

This last winter a plan was made for park rangers to kill 300 deer in Ohio's metroparks. Court orders postponed the event for several weeks before it finally happened and all of the meat was donated to food banks. These people (In Defense of Deer) kept crying about those poor little deer that were brutally murdered. Do they not realize that the only reason that there was a forest in this area was because carnivores kept their populations under control. Now that most of the wolves and coyotes are gone there is nothing to keep their populations in check execpt for humans. If they don't for people to kill the deer then I guess they would rather see the get eaten so that they starve to death. Then the birds won't have a place to nest and all of the little bunnies and squirrels will starve too. Evidently they don't seem to care about the "natural" like they claim.

This last November, Ohio had an issue on the balot to make mourning doves a song bird again so that they couldn't be hunted. Fortunately, Ohioans used their intelligent side and voted down the issue, because the only arguments the dove lovers could come up with was think of the poor dove lying there dying. People realized that mourning doves are quite tasty and are far from extinct so there is no reason why we shouldn't hunt them.

I don't know when animal welfare became more important than the welfare of humans, but I don't like it. Yes deer, rabbits, and fish feel pain when you kill them, but not after they're dead. We've killed most of the carnivores so now it is time for us keep the animal populations in check and if that means going out and killing 300 deer so that we can feed the needy then so be it.
