Why are we here? Who am I? Why me? Why do I continue? What's comes after this little mess we call life? These are all questions that we find ourselves asking. These are all difficult questions to answer. Some resort to religion or science. Both of these things are difficult to understand. Religion says that science proves religion and science says that is disproves religion. Why the big contradiction?
I can't say that I believe that we happened by chance and that by repeatedly rolling the dice that you could come up with the complex organisms that make the world today. I don't think that it could have happened as quickly as scientists say. Some mathematicians don't either. I also don't know that there was some omnipotent being out there that one day said, "Let's make a planet and populate it with animals that look me." The loss of faith however has resulted in higher crime rates because without some sort of religion life is pretty meaningless. We are born so that we can procreate and die.
However the world works whether science is right or religion or that both are right they just don't see it yet, life is pretty boring. We get up everyday and perform menial tasks that will pass the time until we can go back to bed. Certain things like breathing are done constantly without even thinking about it unless some other organism with an even more meaningless life comes along and infects our nasal passages. We are forced to breath until the day we die. If we decide to stop breathing then we will be killed. It's like some mean creature is holding a gun to our heads and says breath. I don't see those radical youth groups telling us to rise up against breathing. No they just tell us to watch out for the old people because their experience won't help us at all. We should rise up against this tyrant so that we will not be forced to perform menial tasks for the rest of our lives. On June 23, 1999 let's all stop breathing for one day. The tyrants that are making us breath will be forced to see that we are in control. Together we just might be able to make the world a better place.
