This afternoon the Florida Supreme Court decided to make up their own laws regarding the election in Florida. They ruled that Al Gore gets to recount the ballots in which no vote was cast so that he make up the votes that he needs to win the election. Didn't the United States Supreme Court imply that they were wrong in letting the counts continue past the November 14 deadline? Now they are letting even more counting go on. I am very afraid that Al Gore will get away with using his cronies to overturn the election in Soviet Union style. Take a look at his policies, they are all socialistic, so it is obvious that would believe that elections should be held in the same way.

Laws were passed so that someone could not rewrite the results of the elecion after it has been certified. The Florida courts however don't seem to be able to read the laws. At least not until the U.S. Supreme Court stepped in and said something. Gore's legal team has made every effort to rework the laws in their favor and it looks like his friends in Tallahassee might let them get away with it. Gore has no interest in the future. He only wants to get into the White House. He doesn't care about the precedent that is being set by this decision.

I am happy however that the judge in Seminole County rejected Gore's proposal to throw out plenty of legally cast ballots because of a few that may have had questionable applications. These were the applications that were altered not the ballots themselves. I had heard that judge had been turned down by Jeb Bush to be appointed to a bench position that she wanted a short while back. I was afraid that this would have influenced her decision given that she was prone to being partisan toward the democrats in other rulings not related to this case. Perhaps she did let that influence her decision and was trying to show Jeb that she is not completely partisan, but she did the right thing anyway.

The bottom line is that Al Gore lost this election. It was by a very tiny margin, but now it appears that he may end up stealing this election. Hard feeling about this election will probably end up in assasination attempts on whomever wins this election. Perhaps Reagan was a fluke:

  1. 1840: William Henry Harrison caught pneumonia giving his inaugural address and died shortly thereafter making the shortest presidential term in history.
  2. 1860: Abraham Lincoln was assinated.
  3. 1880: James A Garfield was assinated.
  4. 1900: William McKinley was assinated.
  5. 1920: Warren G. Harding died in 1923.
  6. 1940: Franklin D. Roosevelt died of complications from polio.
  7. 1960: John F. Kennedy was assinated.
  8. 1980: Ronald Reagan nearly died of an assisination attempt. Was that a fluke?
  9. 2000: Whomever wins this election will probably end up with some nut who will try something.
