The news media is all abuzz about O. J. Simpson again. Allegedly, he tore the glasses off some guy that he thought was riding his tail. The poor guy suffered some minor scrapes on his face because of this. Why should I care? Tell us about it quickly, then move on to more important news. This poor man has not been able to escape the media spotlight since his ex-wife was murdered. I, personally, would rather see him disappear altogether.

Some people wonder why it is difficult to convict celebrities in a court of law. I think it is because the media comes along and turns the entire trial into a circus. There's no wonder why the justice system can't get its job done. I thought that the news was supposed to report on the happenings, however, they always seem to find themselves becoming part of the story. They dwell on insignifcant things like this trial and then have no time left for things that will actually make a difference in my life. I know that people have a short attention span so news from congress will bore most people, but I would rather see that than some sensationalistic report about some former football player with a bad temper.

I don't usually watch the news because of these stories. I know these stories hold the attention of the average viewer, but I am not the average viewer. I want to see the news when I turn on the news. I don't care about some hollywood celbrities that are breaking up after many years of marriage, and I don't care that some rapper is on trial for shooting up a night club. I would rather find about these events on latenight talkshows than on my local news. At least then there isn't any seriousness about the event. It is done with some levity. Go back to reporting the news and stop calling everything a crisis, but that is a whole other topic.
