I'M HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE SUPERSTATS CODE. I don't know how to put the code on my page. I'm using Netscape Composer and I can't get it to work right. I'm having difficulty getting the banner advertisement to load properly on my web page. What is the HTML code that I will need to place on my pages? Why won't the JavaScript code work inside a table with Netscape 3? What if I use frames and I want the referrers to work properly? Why do all my Referral Listings say "bookmarked, typed-in or not supplied?" What if I don't want JavaScript Code on my web page? My referrer pages don't show up. What's wrong? Can I add html to the SuperStats code to place it better on my page? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I don't know how to put the code on my page. Follow the steps below if you are a Windows95 user. If you use Mac, find a Mac-compatible FTP program, and use Simpletext instead of Notepad. Go to www.downloads.com and type "ftp explorer" in the search box. When the results come up, download the program called FTP Explorer 1.00.10 This is a program that will allow you to upload and download files from your web server. When it finishes downloading, install it on your system. Open FTP Explorer. You will be presented with a box entitled, "Connect." Enter the following in the spaces provided: Profile Name: My Web Page Host Address: (you will need to get this from the company that provides your server space. Call them and tell them that you are trying to FTP to your account and need your Host Address.) Port: 21 Login: (type your web page account login name here) Password: (type your internet password here) If you don't know what your Login and Password are, ask your server space provider. Initial Path: (blank) Don't worry about the rest of the boxes. Hit the "Connect" button. The program will connect to the remote server. In the window on the right of FTP Explorer, find the name of the web page you want to put the SuperStats banner. Double-click on it. A box will pop up asking you where you want to save it. Save it to your desktop. It will download and you should now have your document on the desktop. Click your Start button and go to Programs/Accessories choose "Notepad." Click on your HTML document on the desktop and drag it into the Notepad window. This will display all of the HTML code that makes your web page. Open your web browser and go to http://www.superstats.com/faq_codeproblems.html. One of the questions is, "What is the HTML code that I will need to place on my pages?" It is followed by a block of html code. Highlight this block of code (be sure to get the whole thing) and use the copy command under "Edit" to copy the code. In Notepad again, find the place in the HTML code that you'd like to put the ad banner. If you want it to go at the top, you need to put the code right before the code that looks like this: Place your curser there and use the paste command under "Edit" to paste the SuperStats code into your page. Under File choose "Save" Close Notepad. Click on the HTML document on your desktop again and this time, drag it into the right window of the FTP Explorer program. It will upload the file to your server. In your web browser, go to your web page and check to be sure that it has the ad banner on it. If so, hit the reload button a few times to give yourself some hits. Go to SuperStats and login to check your stats. If it still doesn't work, contact the Support Staff. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I'm using Netscape Composer and I can't get the code to work right. Pasting the SuperStats code into your HTML document in Netscape Composer won't work because Composer translates some of the characters in the code block into new characters. You should create you page as usual in Composer and then save the document to your hard drive. Open it using Notepad (Win95) or SimpleText (Mac). Paste the code in and save it again. Then upload it using an FTP program. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I'm having difficulty getting the banner advertisement to load properly on my web page. When placing the HTML code into your web page source code, make sure to copy the lines of code exactly as they are presented to you after you sign up. You cannot have extra spaces, hard returns, or line breaks in this HTML code, as it will cause the stats program to malfunction and the ad will not be loaded properly. Please see the next question below to see EXACTLY how the HTML code should look when you insert it in your web page. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- What is the HTML code that I will need to place on my pages? The HTML code is as follows:
In place of the ########, please put the Account ID that you received when you signed up for the service. Please do not put any breaks, spaces, or hard returns between the characters of the code as it may cause your account not to work. It must look EXACTLY like the way it is shown above. This code will work for any browser. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Why won't the JavaScript code work inside a table with Netscape 3? Netscape 3 has a bug that sometimes it doesn't display JavaScript correctly when it's inside an HTML table. It displays the JavaScript text along with the banner. To fix this, either move the code outside the table, or put a "font" tag to change the text color to be the same as the background color, like this:
This bug has been fixed in Netscape 4. Internet Explorer 3.x displays the JavaScript correctly. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- What if I use frames and I want the referrers to work properly? If you want to use SuperStats in a frameset, you will need to use the following code instead of the code you received when you signed up:
