The Story of Our Rescue...
Date: Wed, 27 Dec 1995 21:06:14
Hello, I am posting this message for a friend who is desperately trying
to find a home for two wonderful Beagles. My friend works at a local vet
hospital. My cousin is the vet in charge, actually. But that's another
story. The Beagles were abandoned at her place, Shawsville Veterinary
Hospital, after being left to "board" while the family supposedly went on
vacation. Several weeks passed and no one returned for the dogs. Repeated
attempts were made to contact the owner without success.
After several more weeks, when we were certain that the dogs had been
"dumped," the owner was finally reached. She informed my vet that she
could not pay her bill. When my vet offered to allow her to pay on time
and asked her to please come and get her dogs, the woman announced that she
no longer wanted them and that my vet could "euthanize them" if she
desired. Needless to say, no one wants that to happen.
These two characters are absolutely adorable. They are purebred blue
tick Beagles. One is a three-year-old male named Rocky and the other is
a two-year-old female named Cleo. Rocky is neutered and Cleo will be
spayed, now that she has finished her heat. (She was in fullblown season
when she came to the hospital). Rocky is a bit more reserved than Cleo,
but both are incredibly affectionate, loving animals. They come when
called, they are completely housebroken, and they love to play. Most of
all, they love each other, so there is no way they can be separated,
especially after all they have endured. They are the most bonded animals
we've ever seen.
If you are interested in giving both of these terrific dogs a loving,
stable home, please call Bonnie Six at Shawsville Vet Hospital. They are
located in Shawsville, Maryland (in Northern Maryland). The number is
410-692-2800. You may also e-mail Valerie Macys at the address below.
Please do not hit the Reply key and respond to William Peterson at the
address above. He is not involved in this posting.
If you know of a Beagle Rescue that might help, would someone please pass
the word along to them as well? Thank you for your kind consideration in
this most urgent matter. We really want to liberate them from their
kennel environment. Although they are incredibly good-natured about
where they are, they really need to be in a home, with people who love
them.
Sincerely,
Valerie Macys

I just called them up, and me and my wife are going to pick them up
Saturday or Sunday (driving down from Massachusetts). Thanks for
posting this and wish us luck with our new family members!
Happy Beagling,
