Pieters v. Department of National Revenue

The racial profiling complaint that Mr. Pieters filed against Canada Customs which was scheduled to proceed before the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal for five weeks beginning January 28, 2002 is adjourned sine die. See, Pieters v. Dept of National Revenue - Notice of Adjournment January 25, 2002

On January 22 and January 18th, 2002 respectively, Mr. Selwyn Pieters (on behalf of the complainant) and Mr. Denis Lefebvre, Assistant Commissioner, Customs Branch (for the Respondent, Canada Customs and Revenue Agency) signed a Minutes of Settlement which has resolved the matter. The Canadian Human Rights Commission (CHRC) was represented by Mark McDonald, Legal Counsel, CHRC and Canada Customs and Revenue Agency (CCRA) was represented by John B. Edmond, Barrister & Solicitor. Selwyn Pieters was self-represented.

The African Canadian Legal Clinic was represented by Sheena Scot and Marie Chen.
