"Old Man And Me"
- Hootie & The Blowfish
It was in April when I first heard this song, and knew it was had to be a big hit, but
since it had just been released, it wasn't getting much airplay yet. But I bought the
cassingle and loved it, and watched as the song became popular. This was the group's
followup album to thier astounding debut 'Cracked Rearview Mirror, once again giving the
mellow tones and easy lyrics that won them popularity with their first album. I don't have
any memories really linked with this song, other than the song is one that can change a
bad mood to good with a drum kit and lead guitar that constantly compliment each other. It
moves forward, but in a subtle way, 'Hootie Style', making it hard to not pay attention to
the melody and his voice. Definitely a song to wake up to Spring to. A key to this tune is
that no minor chords are ever played the whole time. Every chord is in some type of major
chord structure, easily winning love from me as I love major chords, what most pop music
is based on.
