"Counting Blue Cars"
- Dishwalla
What first caught my attention to this song were the words. I was amazed at how the
question of the concept of God was being contemplated in a 'Pop' song. But the kicker came
when God was referred to as a woman by the male lead singer. I applauded the attempt to
challenge the listener while putting it to a great melody. Other songs mentioning God had
been released about the same time, so I was paying attention to a possible trend. But Counting
Blue Cars added an alternative sound that entertained the listener as much as the
words did, something the other songs neglected. I wound up getting the CD single because
the album wasn't much of my taste. But this one song was enough for me.
