Bike Patrol

The Union City Police Department began their bike patrol on National Night Out in 1996.

Initially two veteran officers were placed on bikes. From the success seen during the first year, two additional officers are being placed in this unit. Effective September of 2003 - Bike Patrol has been incorporated into all shifts.

Bike patrol allows officers to be mobile and effective in handling community problems and is an effective crime fighting tool.
