|   | 1842 | Battle of Khojah Pass.  English relief force heading for Kandahar ambushed by Afghans and forced to retire. |  
|   | 1879 | Battle of Inholobane Mountains.  Ill-advised British attack was beaten off with large losses by Zulus. |  
|   | 1941 | Battle of Cape Matapan. British defeat Italians sinking three 8-inch cruisers, two smaller cruisers, to destroyers and damaging a battleship.  British losses: two aircraft. |  
|   | 1942 | British commandos raid the occupied port of Saint Nazaire. |
