 1808Battle of Vimiero. After the British victory, the French agreed to abandon Portugal if they were transported back to France in British ships. The British inexplicably agreed giving Napoleon a gift of 26,000 veteran troops to use against them in the future.
 1860Combined British-French military force capture Taku Forts opening Tientsin to trade.
