Legal Experience

Attorney at Law; Solo Practice; New London County, Connecticut, USA; January/1995 - present

Legal practice focuses on legal research, especially criminal appeals. Directly represent clients at the appellate level which includes the determination of legal issues from trial court records, thorough research of those issues as well as their presentation in a thirty-five-page legal brief and an oral defense before a three-judge panel. Also conduct research projects for other attorneys, presenting findings in written memorandum format, including all necessary citations (had conducted such work as Certified Legal Intern prior to bar admission from September/1993 to December/1994). Caseload less-frequently includes the general practice of law in the areas of bankruptcy, corporate, civil, family, juvenile and criminal law. Conduct community services through state-sponsored programs for the representation of juveniles and indigents.


Legal Intern; Hasse and Associates; New London, Connecticut, USA; Summer/1994 & Summer/1995

Performed legal research, using both books and Casebase computer researching, in the areas of criminal, probate, personal injury, corporate, family and general civil law. Wrote memoranda, complaints, motions and a number of trial and appellate briefs. Interviewed new and perspective clients and established electronic billing system. Accompanied attorneys to numerous meetings (including plea bargains, juvenile case status conferences, depositions and negotiations) and second-chaired a number of hearings (including workers' compensation, divorce trials, criminal trials and civil trials).


Legal Intern; The Office of Governor Lowell P. Weicker; Hartford, Connecticut, USA; September - December/1994

Performed legal research on proposed legislation and issues requested by the Governor of the State of Connecticut. Most research was submitted in memorandum format requiring thorough research, citations and conclusions, including suggestions. Worked under the supervision of Attorney Terence Mariani, Counsel to the Governor. Also responded to public legal queries.


Public Defender Intern; Connecticut Judicial Department, Geographical Area 10; New London, Connecticut, USA; Summer/1993

Interviewed clients, assisted at trials and arraignments, performed criminal legal research and writing as well as answering general legal queries of clients. Supervised by Public Defender Nancy Radoff.


Legislative Intern; The Honorable Connecticut State Senator Kenneth Przybysz; Hartford, Connecticut, USA; August/1990 - May/91

Worked as an aide in the office of this Connecticut state senator. Performed background research on current events that might effect a proposed legislative bill. Tracked public opinion and senatorial comments on those bills sponsored by the senator. Contacts included constituents, senators, lobbyists and regulatory agencies. Also worked on 1994 re-election campaign.
