My Name is Martin Essenberg. I am a CONSCIENTIOUS OBJECTOR to the NEW GUN LAWS being enforced in Australia. This Guest-book is for interested people to have their say. I don't mind anti-gun people having their say in this book but I do request that you respect my democratic right of free speech and let this guest-book function properly . Ta!

Tony guns are indeed here to stay. No pschological test will help reduce deaths. I understand that because of restrictions on guns suicide deaths by rope have INCREASED. With suicide if some-one wants to die they will find a way.

Despite gun restrictions homocide weapons is increasing. Illegal guns/ knives use is increasing. Perhaps the society should try to understand why so many people want to kill themselves or others by any means at present.

The gun is not the problem and banning guns will not help.

guns are here to stay but we must have a more stringent policy towards the people that liscences are given to. People should be made to have psycholgy tests before these are issued

An innovative defense strategy :) As a Canadian citizen, I also enjoy the protection of the Bill of Rights. Hopefully our courts will weigh our ancient rights more fairly than have the courts of your land. Anyways, here are some links to gun rights movements in Canada http://www.nfa.ca (the National Firearms Association) http://www.cila.org (Canadian Institute for Legislative Action) and here's a website containing the latest draconian firearms laws of our fair realm: http://www.canadianfirearms.com We're presently facing mandatory universal registration of all firearms, with confiscation of over 533,000 handguns because they've been deemed "prohibited". Huge cost overruns by our Government and mass noncompliance by the

I salute you Martin, It takes a lot of guts to do what you have been doing. As a police officer here in the U.S. I am NOT in favor of anymore gun control laws. I am a life member of the N.R.A. and I also own many of those nasty, "assault weapons" and WILL NOT give them up for any reason!! A donaton is on the way, hope it helps. Keep up the fight!!!!!

Hi all

please note my new email address is marsiegen@burcom.com.au

Other thing is that something went wrong with this guest book. I saved the most recent entries and started a new guest book.

TONY and NEIL- The society has decided that they no longer trust us. This dis-trust is largely unfounded and illogical because as you (Tony) say there are many more serious causes of death in this country that are being largely ignored. The CGC is illogic l as is our major parties.

Unfortunately we gun-owners are often Nationalistic.Australia is unlikely to be involved in a foreign militiary adventure needing large numbers of troops. They will be able to find enough others to do those small jobs.

If there is a major conflict that threatens Australia then we Nationalists although disliking our own elites (who seem to hate us) would fight not perhaps for the country but at least for our families and friends. There is no way that I see for us to prot ct our own and let our enemies sink.

Perhaps if all gun-owners moved to Tasmania we could laugh those who oppress us were defeated (assuming we were invaded). Unfortunately even this would be cutting off our noses to spite our face.

No we must fight the good fight, show the hoplophobes for the hollow people they are and reverse these laws.

G'day, I think we will have to think about the laws in a different light now that there are unthinking people in government trying to take self responsability from the people . Just look at the crazy new laws in N.S.W. some with up to 14 years prison. I f el pretty powerless to do anything to get a change to some sane legistlation, if you look at the High Courts' explanation for the voting laws you'll see how difficult it is to get in touch with the way some people in closed circles think,(judges, pollies nd the like ) I hope Martin acheives what He is setting out to do , we will all owe Him a debt of sacrafice, for the ability to stick His neck out. Cheers Martin. Yours Neil castles Neil_castles@hotmail.com

Where do I start? My father was drafted for the Vietnam war, (although did not eventually go), my Grandfathers to WWII in PNG in a time when to walk around Sydney with their SMLE "NOT" over their shoulder was an offense. Now the government says that they n't trust us anymore. To them I say this and I will continue to "...If you take my guns during peacetime, don't hand me one during war..." It's sad that I feel that I am oblidged to tell as many shooters (and non) as possible that in the event of a confl t, ALL shooters should turn their backs on any possible future military campaign. The most capable people/fighters in society (Shooters) should have nothing to do with future government edicts. We should all band together and show the government that the ave managed to alienate a valuable resource which previous governemnts have relied upon as cannon fodder. This space is far too small for me to really be able to express my views but basically, I live in Australia and while I live in this country I have n thing but contempt for what the governments have done to it. I am a fifth generation Australian who has lost respect for the country where I live, which is sad. It's now a matter of what can I get out of it and that's it. More than 20 times the number o d ath occur each due to Smoking related illnesses, 10 time as a result of car accidents yet people who get their vehicle licence back for instance are once again entrusted with a dangerous weapon (the car) AFTER a conviction. Where's the logic? If saving Au tralian lives is the purpose of such legislation, hasn't the goverment missed something? Maybe the taxes on vehicles/cigarettes is just too much money to turn away from. Double standard? I think so. IMHO, these politicians just fear a populus that has the ability to do something about injustices were they forced to. But this is not even who we are... In a nutshell, it shits me!
